Second Team
PG- Andre Simmons Andre Simmons 5'8" | PG Purcell Marian | 2022 State OH 5-8 Purcell Marian (OH) (pictured at top of article) A diminutive point guard who had a good weekend for Dayton Elite. If you’re going to be next level point guard at this size you need to have elite speed. Simmons has speed for days. This made him a presence defensively and surprisingly on the boards. Elevates well and and served as his own outlet pass after securing a rebound. A pass first point guard who does an excellent job of finding his teammates both in transition and the half court. Will need to show a knock down three point shot to keep defenses honest.
SG- Mysean Vaughn 6-1 Chicago Simeon (IL) Can energy and dare I say charisma be a talent you can scout? This guard was all over the place for a Chicago Demons squad that went 4-0 on the weekend. Extremely quick and explosive to the basket. Good ball handler who should be able to defend both positions due to his speed. His intensity never seemed to wane all weekend. Vocal and aggressive defensively. Long arms help him get into passing lanes for steals.
SF- Kellen Leake 6-4 Sylvania Southview (OH) A bright spot for a Athlete Headquarters team that had tough weekend. Excellent athlete who played hard the whole weekend despite the results. Elevates well on his jump shot and has a smooth release. The shot looked more efficient in the mid range than it did from beyond the arc. Will need to improve ball handling to avoid falling into tweener status between the two and three positions.
PF- Tyson Barrett Tyson Barrett 6'8" | PF Frederick Douglass | 2023 FL 6-8 Lexington Frederick Douglass (KY) A very intriguing prospect due to his combination of length and and agility. With a huge euro step was basically unguardable once he got out in transition. Had several highlight reel dunks. In the half court showed the ability to handle the ball and was a good passer out of the high post. Good touch from the perimeter but will have to smooth out and quicken the release for the next level. Also will need to add weight to his lean frame. A lot of upside here though.
C- Jackson Twombly Jackson Twombly 6'7" | PF Woodford County | 2022 State KY 6-8 Frankfort (KY) A no fills old school post who played well for Titans Elite. Excellent projectable frame with long arms and broad shoulders. Ran the court well and was able to make plays in transition. Competed hard on defense and was a huge presence on the boards. Has a soft touch from the perimeter but stayed mainly on the block.
