Top 2022 Prospects
Cam Whitmore | 6’6” PF | Archbishop Spalding
Offers: Villanova, South Carolina, Illinois, Miami, Penn State, Notre Dame, Wake Forest, UConn, Florida, Georgetown, LSU, Seton Hall, Creighton, Maryland, Virginia Tech, VCU, St. Joe’s, Loyola, Southern Utah, Towson, UMBC
Synopsis: Whitmore was recently bumped to the number one spot in the Prep Hoops Maryland rankings, and he’s been one of the hottest stock risers in the country this spring. The 6’6” forward is exactly the type of player that the game is going toward, as he isn’t the tallest guy at his position but he’s super explosive around the rim, he can play inside-out and is a versatile mismatch on both ends of the floor.
Tyrell Ward Tyrell Ward 6'7" | SF DeMatha | 2022 State #56 Nation MD | 6’6” WF | DeMatha
Offers: Rutgers, Miami, South Carolina, Maryland, Indiana, Virginia Tech, Xavier, Seton Hall, Saint John’s, Georgetown, LSU, Providence, Georgia, VCU, George Mason, Wake Forest, Iona, Southeastern Louisiana
Synopsis: A highly touted prospect who has improved immensely over the past few years, Ward is one of the most versatile wings on the east coast and is a two way impact player that uses his size and athleticism to make plays in a number of ways. He’s excellent on the ball as he can run the pick-and-roll and make plays for others, he’s athletic and finishes well through contact and he can guard the other team’s best player as well.
Rodney Rice Rodney Rice 6'4" | CG DeMatha | 2022 State #89 Nation MD | 6’3” CG | DeMatha
Offers: Notre Dame, Indiana, Miami, Oklahoma State, Wake Forest, Rutgers, UConn, LSU, Maryland, Marquette, Louisville, Alabama, Providence, Georgetown, Seton Hall, Virginia Tech, Penn State, Illinois, Rhode Island, Richmond, IUPUI, Howard
Synopsis: One of the top scoring guards on the east coast, Rice is a combo guard that can fill it up in bunches and from pretty much anywhere on the floor. He isn’t the most explosive guy but he’s shifty and crafty off the bounce, he gets to his spots and can make contested shots from multiple levels and when he gets it going he can really knock it down from deep.
Jerell Roberson | 6’9” C | DeMatha
Offers: Iona, George Mason
Synopsis: Roberson is a guy who could really benefit from this upcoming weekend, as the 6’9” big man has had a good spring so far with Team Takeover and will have a chance to show how he’s improved over the past year or so. He’s a blue collar type of big who can protect the rim on the defensive end, can run the floor and play in transition with his guards and he has grit in the paint and can finish in traffic with both hands.
Favour Aire Favour Aire 6'10" | C Bishop McNamara | 2022 State #86 Nation MD | 6’9” C | Bishop McNamara
Offers: Georgetown, Indiana, Seton Hall, UConn, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Louisville, LSU, Georgia, Rutgers, IUPUI
Synopsis: Aire is one of the most underrated bigs in the country in my opinion, and he’ll have a lot of eyes on him this weekend with coaches being back in the building. The 6’9” big is a monster in the paint who protects the rim and rebounds everything in his area, but he has an underrated skill set as well which includes the ability to score over both shoulders, stretch the floor out to 18 feet and he’s an excellent passer as well.
Masai Troutman Masai Troutman 6'5" | SF St. Andrew's | 2022 State MD | 6’5” WF | St. Andrew’s
Offers: Northwestern, Florida, Georgetown, Indiana, Xavier, St. Joe’s, Radford, Bryant
Synopsis: Troutman is an intriguing prospect with good length and athleticism on the wing and he could see his stock continue to rise this weekend. He’s a skilled shot maker who can fill it up in bunches with his ability to make shots on the move, handle it in transition and run the pick-and-roll and he uses his length and athleticism well to finish at the rim.
Dylan Williamson Dylan Williamson 6'0" | CG Good Counsel | 2022 State MD | 6’1” CG | Good Counsel
Offers: Towson, Bryant, UMBC, Mississippi Valley State
Synopsis: Williamson is one of the more underrated guys in the DMV, and if he plays the way he’s been playing this spring he should see some schools come his way after this weekend. He’s a shifty guard that has a good handle and can get to his spots, he scores it from multiple levels and can make tough shots and he sets the tone on both ends as well.
Mady Traore Mady Traore 6'10" | PF National Christian | 2022 MD | 6’9” PF | National Christian
Offers: Maryland, Oregon, USC, Pittsburgh, Illinois, Florida, Virginia Tech, Kansas, Auburn
Synopsis: Traore is still a project but he has shown enough potential to have some of the top schools in the country already offer him hoping he will pan out moving forward. The 6’9” forward is a fluid athlete that can play inside-out, he can guard multiple positions and he has a good base skill set that makes him a mismatch with his ability to put it on the deck and make shots from deep.
Ty Williams Ty Williams 6'1" | PG Rock Creek Christian | 2022 State MD | 6’2” PG | Rock Creek Christian
Offers: Mount St. Mary’s
Synopsis: Williams is one of the prospects that has a chance to really boost his stock after picking up his first offer from Mount St. Mary’s a few weeks ago. The 6’2” lead guard is a true floor general who sets the tone on both ends of the floor, makes his teammates better with ease and he can score it off the bounce from multiple levels when he needs to.
