We will be recapping the event breaking down top performers from each class. Here is Cream City Collision: Illinois 2022 Standouts!
Sebastian Blauchut (Chicago Lockdown)
This Lake Park combo guard made a statement early on in their first game Saturday going right down the lane for a pair of thunderous jams. The guard has some sneaky athletic pop that was shown. Consistently won off the dribble with a skilled handle and has a good feel for the game.
Owen Schneider Owen Schneider 5'10" | PG Prospect | 2022 State IL (Chicago Lockdown)
Schneider is a 5’10” lead guard from Prospect that is a plus distributor in the half court that runs the team. Also showed some scoring over the weekend with threes, mid-range pull ups, and floaters.
Conrad Luczynski Conrad Luczynski 7'2" | C Bartlett | 2022 State IL (Chicago Lockdown)
First live game look at this 7’2” Bartlett center who is coming off an injury. His high school highlight tape was impressive. Strong and burly five man that is massive. Liked what we saw out of him as a distributor making quick dishes to cutters and shooters. Rebounded well in his area and swatted most shots that came near him. Not the most fluid athlete, but you can’t teach 7’2”. Going to be a name to track in July!
Joshua Reed Joshua Reed 6'3" | SG King | 2022 IL (Old Gold)
Reed is a King 6’3” wing. The lefty has a lanky build and was at his best scoring off the bounce using his slick handles and quickness inside getting buckets in the paint.
Niel Davis Niel Davis 6'3" | SG Kenwood | 2022 State IL (Old Gold)
With so much star power in the 2023 class sometimes the 2022 Kenwood prospects get overlooked. Davis is going to be a nice find for a small college or JUCO. Thin and rangy wing that gets after it on the defensive end with his quick hands. Wins off the bounce with smooth acceleration finishing with mid-range shots and runners.
Vaurice Patterson Vaurice Patterson 6'1" | PG Hamilton Heights | 2022 State TN (Team NLP)
Patterson was extremely impactful on the defensive end. The Schaumburg lead guard blocked multiple shots including several recovering when he was initially beat. Recorded steals that he took the other way as he was aggressive in his opponent’s grill. Known more as a shooter offensively it was his ability to win off the bounce getting in the teeth of the defense that made him a standout on that end.
Nick Doroskin (Team NLP)
New name that burst on our radar. The 6’6” power forward showed some face up skills putting it on the deck from the high post getting downhill for finishes at the cup. Also converted several dump off passes in the paint.
Daniel Raupp (Limitless)
Another face up four man here. The Prospect 6’6” power forward is a thin and mobile post. Runs the floor with fluidity and finishes with touch around the hoop. Hit a three. Rebounded in his area and showed he could switch on a ball screen.
Drew Meyers Drew Meyers 6'1" | SG Aurora Christian | 2022 State IL (Illinois Stars)
Meyers was unconscious from beyond the arc over the weekend. At 6’1” Meyers can play a little on the ball, but is more effectively utilized coming off screens for threes. Moves well without the ball and knocking in threes. No wasted movement here as it is gone as soon as it hits his hands. Sniper that small colleges should be looking into.
Zach Smith Zach Smith 6'3" | SG Chicago U-High | 2022 State IL (Illinois Stars)
New name on our radar here. The 6’3” shooting guard from Chicago U-High was electric with his perimeter shot making all weekend. He hit an array of threes in both games we saw creating on his own and spotting up. Plus shooter also has decent handles and projects as a solid defender.
Joseph Fitch Joseph Fitch 6'8" | PF Christian Homeschool Assn. | 2022 IL (Illini Magic)
Fitch continues to see his stock climb each time out. The Home School power forward is primed to make a major debut in the updated June rankings. At 6’8” he has nice length and a frame to continue to add strength. His athleticism and motor pop. Runs the floor hard, competes on the glass, and is quick finishing around the hoop. D2 programs need to write this one down as a player to watch in July.
Cooper Stacey (B&B Elite)
First look at this 6’5” Warren combo forward. He can really stretch the floor with his shooting as he drained an array from distance with a feathery stroke. Nice stretch forward for the small college level.
Chikere Nwosu Chikere Nwosu 6'1" | SG Lincoln Park | 2022 State IL (Illinois Future)
Monster showing for this Lincoln Park 6’1” combo guard. He put on an absolute show in their Saturday night contest hitting threes over and over again. Especially loved to pull up in transition. Good athlete that also displayed flashes off the bounce finishing through contact.
Rashawn Bost Rashawn Bost 6'0" | PG Evanston | 2022 State IL (Illinois Future)
Bost is a rock solid guard from Evanston that will be a key player for the Wildkits this upcoming season. Speed in the open floor pushing and has a decent floater game. Also knocked in a step back three. Fluid ball handler that got others in position when needed.
Jamon Brooks (Illinois Future)
Brooks has been on our radar for a bit as a sleeper name. The 6’3” strong bodied wing is powerful finishing inside on drives, hook shots, and crashes the offensive glass. High-motor kid.
