There was tons of talent on every court and many games went down to the wire, and with so much talent we’ll have to break the standouts up into multiple pieces. Here’s a look at part one of the 16U standouts, with a look at some of the top players from NC and the DMV.
You can check out all the games on the CBG Live Network here!
Greg Jackson Greg Jackson 6'10" | PF Ridge View | 2023 SC | 6’8” PF | CP3
Jackson showed why he’s one of the top prospects in South Carolina regardless of class, and with two of their best players in Robert Dillingham Robert Dillingham 6'2" | CG Donda Academy | 2023 #9 Nation CA-S and Jaylen Curry Jaylen Curry 6'1" | PG Calvary Christian | 2023 State #109 Nation FL at USA Basketball for the first two days he stepped up big and was the catalyst for this group. The 6’8” forward is chock full of potential as he has good size and athleticism, he’s versatile and skilled already and he still has room to grow on both ends. He’s a walking mismatch that can post smaller guys, has perimeter skills that include the ability to put it on the deck and shoot it from deep and he’s able to guard multiple positions and is a rim protector coming helpside.
Aden Holloway Aden Holloway 5'11" | PG Sussex Hamilton | 2023 #60 Nation CA-N | 6’0” CG | CP3
With the aforementioned guards missing from the group, Holloway took it upon himself to step up in a shot making role and show that he’s also one of the most talented guards on the east coast in the 2023 class. He’s an absolute sniper from deep who has very deep range and is able to make shots both off the bounce and off the catch, and he even had a game where he hit 10 three-pointers. He can get a little trigger happy and take some questionable shots, but he’s capable of making contested shots and has takeover ability once he gets it going.
Comeh Emuobor Comeh Emuobor 6'4" | CG Brewster Academy | 2023 State #198 Nation NC | 6’5” WF | CP3
Emuobor isn’t the biggest name on this CP3 group that may be the best 16U team in the country, but he has tons of potential and is able to impact the game on both ends of the floor to help his team win. At 6’5” he has a big, strong frame and thrives in transition and when he can get downhill as he’s a freak athlete that’s fearless at the rim and is a walking highlight reel with his high flying acrobats. He’s a good defender and plays with a good motor, and he has tons of room to get better moving forward.
Ty Outlaw | 6’7” PF | CP3
Outlaw was the x-factor for this CP3 team all weekend as he was the one willing to do the dirty work and all the things outside of scoring to help his team win. He’s a high motor guy who can guard multiple positions, rebound and run the floor hard and when he got his opportunities he showed good touch in the paint and out to the midrange level. His ability to impact the game in a number of ways makes him a very valuable player for his team.
Carlton Carrington Carlton Carrington 6'4" | CG St. Frances | 2023 State #84 Nation MD | 6’4” WG | Team Melo
Carrington will be a name to know in the Baltimore area as the St. Frances wing was out of this world over Memorial Day weekend and showed he was one of the best shot makers in the 16U division. With a good frame at 6’4” with long arms, Carrington has the physical tools that already translate to the next level, and when he got it going he showed takeover ability as he made shots from deep both off the catch and off the bounce and got hot quickly throughout the event. He has deep range and a quick release, supreme confidence in his ability to score it and he’s a good athlete on both ends of the ball too.
Gavin Walsh Gavin Walsh 6'7" | PF Loyola Blakefield | 2022 State MD | 6’7” F | Team Melo
Walsh is another name to know as he will reclassify to the 2023 class and he has a lot of versatility to his game that makes him an intriguing prospect. The 6’7” forward can play and guard both in the post and on the perimeter, he’s a natural athlete that can run the floor and finish above the rim and he can step outside and make shots from deep as well. He still has a lot of room to grow on both sides of the ball, and the extra year should give him time to develop and have coaches ready to check him out.
Jayden Ross Jayden Ross 6'7" | SF Long Island Lutheran | 2023 #144 Nation MD | 6’7” WF | Team Melo
Ross is another versatile and intriguing player for the Melo 16s group as he’s a legit wing with great size and length on the perimeter and he can do a little bit of everything to help his team. He thrives in the open court as he can both handle it in transition and run the wings, he showed a good base skill set with his ability to handle it and make shots and he’s a good athlete and finish in traffic. He has tons of potential on the defensive end with his athleticism and length and should be able to be a lock down defender if he buys in.
