Many of the top players across the state will be there, looking to make an impact. Now, let’s take a look at some of the players that will be in action this weekend from 4A South.
Storylines
- Young Southport Squad Gaining More Experience
This Southport team is dominated by four rising juniors. With Nickens Lemba Nickens Lemba 6'6" | PF Southport | 2023 State IN in the frontcourt and Anthony Dancler Anthony Dancler 6'2" | SG Southport | 2023 State IN , Keyon Garrett-Miller Keyon Garrett-Miller 6'1" | PG Southport | 2023 State IN , and Drew Gregg Drew Gregg 5'10" | PG Southport | 2023 IN in the backcourt, this youthful squad has gained a ton of experience over the last year. These four players scored over 85% of Southport’s points. Now with this group of players back with a year of experience under their belt, I can’t wait to see what they can show on the court.
- Leland Walker Leland Walker 5'11" | PG North Central | 2022 VA Still Raising His Stock
Walker has been a must-have player for many years for college coaches across the country, but he has had some holes in his game that needed to develop. Walker knew this and got into the gym to work, and I think that all of these questions about his game have been answered. His jump shot has improved in a major way during the spring season, and that should be on full display this weekend. With his quickness and basketball IQ along with his newly improved jumper, he very well could see his already extensive list of offers grow in the coming months.
- Jarrard Twins Poised for Big Senior Season
Mt. Vernon’s twin senior guards were a huge part of their success last season, each averaging 13 a game. Now this year, both seem ready to go once again. Ahmad Jarrard has seen his recruitment take off with offers from Coastal Carolina, IUPUI, Southeast Missouri State, and UIC. Armon also received his first offer from Southeast Missouri State two weeks ago. Both of these players are insane athletes and should have several eyes on them this weekend.
- Arsenal Tech New Duo
Reggie Bass Reggie Bass 6'4" | SG Arsenal Tech | 2022 State #175 Nation IN and Antonio Lisenbee will be making their debuts for Arsenal Tech this summer going into next season. These two spent their junior seasons at prep schools, but they have transferred to Arsenal Tech for their senior season, making Arsenal Tech a potentially very impressive squad. Obviously, we don’t know what to expect at this moment, but a duo of this caliber is already going to be major news.
