The CCS Open Championship first round of games began Friday Night. Prep Hoops landed at Archbishop Mitty to watch the number 1 seed take on 8 seed Palma from Salinas. Going into this game Palma was 9-0, while Mitty was sporting a 14-1 record. The absence of Palma’s 6’6 Jr post, Joseph Finley Joseph Finley 6'7" | PF Palma | 2022 State was evident right from the beginning. Palma tried to counter Mitty’s huge size advantage with small ball. All guards under 6ft, who moved, and passed well, with good outside shooting, limiting themselves to one shot. Mitty was clicking on all cylinders from the start, ending any hope of a upset early 79-40. Standouts for the game.

Mitty’s Mike Mitchell Mike Mitchell 6'3" | PG Archbishop Mitty | 2021 State #191 Nation 6’3 guard played his usual floor game good decision making and solid passing. He knocked down a couple of nice transition 3’s in the game, he had four 3’s. 14pts, 5 rebounds. He did his work in 3 quarters.

Arrish Bhandal Arrish Bhandal 6'9" | C Archbishop Mitty | 2021 State 6’10 post pretty much had his way inside scoring 18pts in the first half, and  was the games leading scorer. He finished with 18 pts, 7 rebounds in 3 quarters of play.

Nigel Burris Nigel Burris 6'7" | SF Archbishop Mitty | 2022 State 6’7 Forward  showed some versatility
