Over the next few days we will take a look at some of the players that stood out from each class, starting off with the Seniors!
Westover HS Wing Mikey Campbell Mikey Campbell 6'5" | SF Westover | 2022 State NC : One of the top stock risers in the Cape Fear Region, Campbell turned plenty of heads with his play during the high school season last year and will be a player that is called upon to take on a larger role this season. His athleticism is what grabs your attention about him almost immediately, he’s a high flyer that throws down highlight dunks on a regular basis and he’s working to expand his overall game which makes him an intriguing prospect.
Gray’s Creek HS Guard Camonte Williams: Showed some flashes of what he can potentially be on the offensive side of the floor, using a quick first step to get by defenders and score. The next step for him will be to play at the pace that allows him to play under control at all times which will help him to have better ball security and production.
Hoke County Wing Jordan Maynor: Was productive throughout the day, working inside the paint for rebounds but also stepping out to the elbow and perimeter areas to make plays. He was clutch in their matchup with NLCA, coming up with some big plays down the stretch on both ends of the floor using his size and strength advantage against the smaller squad.
Pine Forest HS Senior Guard Tristan Harkins: Got off to a slower start but turned it up as the day went on. He’s one of the more unselfish players that you will get the chance to see, passing up his own offense to facilitate to teammates. With that being said, he is a knock down shooter from three point range and has solid height for a Guard at 6’1 with a nice wingspan.
St. Pauls HS Senior Guard Josh Henderson: There is plenty to like about the approach that he takes to each game, bringing max energy from start to finish, regardless of who they are matched up with. He’s a strong Guard that found his way into the paint at a high rate and showed some creativity with the way he was able to finish around interior defenses.
