Cody Pennebaker Cody Pennebaker 6'5" | SF Park Center | 2022 State MN of Park Center (6’5 Guard – 2022) Cody was making his Park Center debut this weekend. The D1 offered guard transferred from St. Francis and is going to make an immediate impact with the Pirates. His athleticism stuck out to me, using it to play above the rim and in transition. Cody was catching lobs and finishing through contact all game in their second matchup of the day versus Eastview. He could not be stopped and finished the contest with 24 points, scoring all of the 4 points scored by either team in the overtime period. Also, he is extremely lanky and strong which resulted in steals leading to buckets on the other end. He currently holds offers from Drake & TCU, but look for that list to grow.
Willie Wilson Willie Wilson 6'2" | CG Minneapolis North | 2022 State MN of Minneapolis North (6’3 Guard – 2022) Wille was getting it done on both ends of the floor on Sunday. He racked up a plethora of steals that led to assists and easy layups on the other end. Always the quickest on the floor, he uses that speed to blow by defenders and magically appear in passing lanes. The incoming senior guard was hitting all kinds of shots from beyond the arc, knocking down threes whenever he wanted. Wille has been a key player for this stacked Polar squad since his freshman season, now he is taking over the leader role and dominating the competition.
Donavhan Cain of Cretin-Derham Hall (6’4 Guard – 2023) A new name to know in the Minnesota high school basketball world, Donavhan Cain! The transfer from Turner High School in Beloit, Wisconsin was dominating their semifinal matchup versus Shakopee. The 6’4 guard has freakish athleticism which led to a put-back and an alley-oop dunk. Donavhan can stretch the floor as well, knocking down four threes on his way to a 20 point performance. Look for the trio of Tre Holloman Tre Holloman 6'2" | PG Cretin-Derham Hall | 2022 State #57 Nation MN , Brandon Melchior Brandon Melchior 6'10" | C Elk River | 2022 State MN , and Donavhan Cain to make another deep playoff run with CDH next March!
Kristen Hoskins of Alexandria (5’10 Guard – 2022) One of the top football players in the state, Kristen has insane athleticism and strength. He showcased this by snagging rebounds over big men and finishing hard at the cup. The Gopher commit was levels faster than everyone else that stepped foot on the court. He used his speed to grab steals and penetrate the defense to either finish with an acrobatic layup or kick out to a teammate for an open shot. Hoskins led Alexandria to the AAA state championship last season and will always make an impact (on the hardwood or the gridiron).
Yonis Mohamud Yonis Mohamud 6'2" | SG Shakopee | 2022 State MN of Shakopee (6’1 Guard – 2022) Yonis put in an impressive performance in their matchup with Cretin-Derham Hall. Stuck with one of the toughest tasks (guarding Tre Holloman Tre Holloman 6'2" | PG Cretin-Derham Hall | 2022 State #57 Nation MN ), Yonis held his own and never backed down. This resulted in a few steals that shifted the momentum of the game, including a fast break jam. The Sabre guard is lightning quick and can finish at the rim efficiently. Yonis was a key contributor in Shakopee’s postseason run that dated back to this past April and will be a prospect to keep your eye on.
Alonzo Dodd Alonzo Dodd 6'2" | CG South St Paul | 2022 State MN of South St. Paul (6’2 Guard – 2022) You know what you are going to get out of Alonzo Dodd Alonzo Dodd 6'2" | CG South St Paul | 2022 State MN , a consistent point guard who will have limited turnovers and will make his teammates look better. Dodd is as shifty as they come and is a nightmare to guard. Alonzo’s vision as a passer is also a part of his game that sets him apart from the rest of the pack, making tough finds look easy. The guard out of South St. Paul is playing AAU with the top Sizzle team and currently holds a handful of mid-major offers including schools like Wisconsin-Milwaukee, TCU, Morgan State, and Western Illinois.
Jamal Ambrose Jamal Ambrose 6'10" | C East View | 2022 State MN of Eastview (6’10 Center – 2022) Post game, consistent jump shot from outside the arc, able to finish off the pick & roll, Jamal can do it all. Making drastic improvements to his game, the 6’10 center has burst out onto the scene as of late. Ambrose has all the tools to make him a legitimate prospect at the next level and showcased it on Sunday. Jamal’s ceiling is so high and I am intrigued to see even more improvements to his game!
