Paul Olson Paul Olson 6'3" | SF Kindred | 2022 State ND |6-4 F| Kindred/ECI – New Rank #9 Previous Ranking #24
Mr. Olson and the Kindred Vikings won the Class B State Championship this season. He was the MVP in the Championship game. Paul was unbelievable in the playoffs. He made big basket after big basket, he was also dunking or throwing down an alley-op very often. Paul is an awesome defender and he also becoming a consistent 3-point shooter. He has been great this spring with ECI in AAU hoops. He will be a scary player next year in Region-1. If Paul keeps working hard and improving, his stock will continue to rise.
Paine Parks Paine Parks 6'3" | SG Grand Forks Red River | 2022 State ND |6-3 G| Grand Forks Red River/ECI – New Rank #12 Previous Ranking #16
He had a very solid junior year for the Rough Riders. Parks averaged 17 PPG and 7.5 RPG. Paine will be one of the better scorers in the EDC next year. He and Kraft will make up a dynamic backcourt for Red River. Parks is strong, powerful, and big in stature. His mid-range game has looked impressive this year in AAU hoops. I expect him to be one of the best rebounding guards in all of ND. He is great at driving with his left hand as well as finishing. Parks is an exciting player and the Rough Riders will be a team on the rise next season in the EDC.
Carter Englund Carter Englund 6'7" | PF Shiloh Christian | 2022 State ND |6-6 F| Shiloh Christian/ND Phenom – New Rank #16 Previous Ranking #19
He led the Skyhawks to a Region Championship and a State Tournament appearance this past year. I will not be a bit surprised if he repeats that in his senior season. Carter has been looking good this spring in AAU ball. Englund is long and athletic. He plays very hard and determined. Carter gets to the rim efficiently. Expect Shiloh to be at the top of Region-5 again next season. Carter and the Skyhawks should be ranked in the Preseason Top-10 Rankings.
Garrett Bader Garrett Bader 6'2" | SG Bismarck St. Mary's | 2022 State ND |6-1 G| Bismarck St. Mary’s/ND Phenom – New Rank #17 Previous Ranking #25
When I watched him play this school year with the Saint’s I left very impressed. Bader averaged 15.3 ppg and he shot 39% from the 3-point arc (51 made). He has also had some very nice moments this spring with ND Phenom. Garrett is a rock-solid 3-point shooter with nice form and flow. He excels at running the floor hard and finishing in transition.
Connor Trahan Connor Trahan 6'5" | SG Bismarck Century | 2022 State ND |6-4 G| Bismarck Century/ECI – New Rank #18 Previous Ranking #45
He did not get a large amount of playing time on varsity this past season because of how deep the Patriots are. This next season Connor should get much more burn. In AAU this spring Trahan has played very well. He is flexible on defense, as he can guard positions 1-5. Conner takes pride in rebounding on both ends of the floor. On offense, he can stretch the defense with his 3-point shooting ability. Trahan has looked good at slashing to the rim. He could be a big surprise in the WDA next year.
Jaiden Peraza Jaiden Peraza 6'5" | SF Kindred | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-4 F| Kindred – New Rank #19 Previous Ranking #27
He won the Region-1 Championship and the Class B Championship with the Kindred Vikings this year. Peraza was impressive in the regular season and he was phenomenal in the post-season. He is very powerful, long, and bouncy. He is a fierce dunker. Jaden has great hands. He is also an excellent offensive rebounder. Jaden is a tough defender as well.
Alijah Dixson Alijah Dixson 5'11" | PG Enderlin | 2022 State ND |5-11 G| ECI Selects/Enderlin – New Rank #30 Previous Ranking #46
He had a solid junior season with the Eagles. Dixson and Enderlin will be the Preseason #1 Ranked Team in ND this fall. Alijah has also looked solid this spring with ECI. He has a big upside with his athleticism and smarts. Dixson is a quick guard that plays with great tempo. Every time I see him play, his shot looks better and more consistent. He will be the straw that stirs the drink for Enderlin next year.
Jalen Poitra Jalen Poitra 6'2" | SG Dunseith | 2022 State ND |6-2 G| Dunseith – New Rank #34 Previous Ranking #39
He will have the Dragons ready for a run next season for a Region-4 Championship. Poitra is an entertaining player with high energy. He is an awesome offensive rebounder. Jalen plays fast and fierce. He flies all over the court. He can shoot it and he can slash. Dunseith will be a scary team this coming year.
Kaleb Larson Kaleb Larson 6'3" | SG West Fargo Sheyenne | 2022 State ND |6-1 G| West Fargo Sheyenne/ECI – New Rank #34 Previous Ranking #48
He is a player that can really fill it up from beyond the arc. The Mustangs lost quite a bit of scoring to graduation. Larson will be ready to step in and drain 3-balls. He shoots it soft and consistently. I like the looks of his shooting stroke. Expect him to play a big shooting role for the Mustangs next season.
Jace Friesz Jace Friesz 6'3" | SF Flasher | 2022 State ND |6-3 F| Flasher – New Rank #37 Previous Ranking #55
He was Second-Team All-State this year. Jace was outstanding in his junior year. He averaged a double-double with points and rebounds. Jace should have a monster senior season and he should be in contention for Region-5 Senior Athlete of The Year. He is a hard-nosed and gritty player. Friesz works hard on the glass non-stop. He fights hard for position. On offense, he has a soft shooting touch from the perimeter. I expect him to put up big numbers next year.
Trevon Rodriguez Trevon Rodriguez 5'11" | PG Oak Grove Lutheran | 2022 State ND |5-11 G| Oak Grove – New Rank #39 Previous Ranking #53
He will be one of the best PG’s in Region-1 next year. Trevon will need to increase his scoring numbers if he wants the Grovers to compete for the Region Championship. His quickness and change of speeds in very impressive. Trevon is a smart player with a good head on his shoulders. Rodriguez has a nice-looking and effective jump shot. He will be the primary ballhandler for Oak Grove next year. The Grovers will go as far as Trevon will take them.
