Here’s the best from Sunday.
Jalen Anglin Jalen Anglin 6'4" | PG West Carroll | 2022 State TN , West Carroll: It didn’t take long the 6-foot-3 guard to get going against Boyd-Buchanan. Whether it was in a half-court setting or in transition, Anglin found a way to be effective. The upcoming senior is difficult to guard because of his mobility. Anglin has sharp ball handles and can easily get into the lane. He can make shots from deep and will position himself for a rebound. Anglin was one of the best players on the court Sunday morning and led his team to a victory.
Airious Bailey, Boyd-Buchanan: The 6-7 forward was having his way with the War Eagles. West Carroll sat in a zone defense, and the Buccaneers simply attacked the middle of the zone. Bailey, at the free throw line, was able to catch the basketball and turn around to put up uncontested jumpers. The upcoming sophomore can make those shots. Bailey can also handle the basketball and crash the boards. Defensively, he’s not afraid to contest shots near the basket.
T.J. McNeal: Collierville: The 5-10 guard came to play Sunday morning in the Dragons’ win over the Morristown East Hurricanes. McNeal was effective offensively, knocking down mid-range jump shots. The main reason he was effective was because of his decision to attack the middle. McNeal realized where his sweet spot was on the floor and was able to get to the same spot for most of the game.
Braden llic, Morristown East: llic showed why he can play at the next level. He’s a perfect stretch forward. llic was putting the ball on the floor against Collierville, making shots from the perimeter and crashing the boards. He’s very patient on offense. llic takes great shots. To be 6-10, the upcoming senior isn’t a bad passer. llic can make great reads if he needs to do so.
Micah Simpson Micah Simpson 6'0" | PG Morristown East | 2022 State TN , Morristown East: The 6-0 point guard was able to keep the Hurricanes competitive because of his outside shooting. The Dragons didn’t realize how well Simpson shoots the basketball. The space was given, and the upcoming senior made Collierville pay. Simpson was getting out in transition and finishing strong at the rim. He was making the right passes to wide open teammates. Simpson took the opportunities the Dragons gave him.
