Bennett Basich Bennett Basich 6'3" | SG Arrowhead | 2024 State WI – 2024 – SG – Arrowhead
Basich scored 17 points to pace Arrowhead in a win over Sussex Hamilton. The freshman sharpshooter had a really good stretch in the second half to put the Warhawks ahead for good. Basich shot the ball really well and with confidence, but the biggest takeaway on Monday was his improved athleticism/quickness. Basich looks leaner and meaner this summer and was able to create his shot more effectively and put together some nice drives to the rim.
Jamariea Dalton Jamariea Dalton 6'3" | SG Fond Du Lac | 2023 State WI – 2023 – SG – Fond du Lac
Dalton had a tough matchup with Tosa West, but scored a team-high 13 points. Playing his way into the top 10 of the 2023 rankings during the spring, Dalton was a little reserved and deferred to his teammates, but continued to show some big flashes. An explosive guard with handles and above the rim athleticism, Dalton was able to blow-by defenders with ease at times and finish against contact. The outside shot is going to be a point of emphasis for Dalton going forward. He’s not a guy that takes a lot of jumpers and can keep defenders honest just yet. But there are certainly some exciting measurables and two-way ability from the Fond du Lac star that make him one of the best prospects in the sophomore class.
Jake Hansen – 2025 – SG – Wauwatosa West
Hansen has already made a name for himself in this state. A deadly sniper with supreme confidence, the incoming freshman came in off the bench and knocked down a couple of shots to help blow the game open against Fond du Lac. Hansen is pretty undersized right now, but he’s got a lot of game. Hansen knows what he’s in there to do — space the floor and make shots. Thought he also impressed with some of his playmaking on the ball, able to make some things happen in transition and the halfcourt. It looks like Hansen will make the Trojans a lot more explosive offensively as defenders have to stay glued to him, likely opening up things for his teammates. He finished with 11 points in Monday’s win.
Colin Hardrick Colin Hardrick 6'3" | CG Wauwatosa West | 2022 State WI – 2022 – G – Wauwatosa West
Hardrick put up 17 points, including 12 in the first half as Tosa West handled Fond du Lac. In the midst of a really big off-season, Hardrick just made it look too easy at times. The junior guard has an exceptional blend of crafty scoring ability, electrifying downhill speed, athletic ability in the open floor, and maybe the best layup package in the state. Hardrick is a threat off the catch-and-shoot, off the dribble, and just has so many different ways of putting the ball in the hole when he’s playing in traffic. Hardrick is entering his senior year, but won’t turn 16 until August and may end up reclassifying. An elite scorer in this state, Hardrick is coming off a season in which he averaged 22 points and six rebounds per game while playing in a loaded Greater Metro Conference. Still awaiting his first offer, Hardrick is a Division 1 talent no matter what class he ends up in.
Luther Smith Luther Smith 6'1" | SG Sussex Hamilton | 2023 State WI – 2023 – G – Sussex Hamilton
Continuing his big off-season, Smith had a game-high 18 points against Arrowhead. It looked like for a while that Smith would carry the Chargers to a win before they ran out of gas late. Smith is an instant offense guard that’s got the green light whenever he touches the ball. A high volume scorer, Smith has in-the-gym range and a very quick trigger. He’s added an outstanding pump fake/hesitation game that keeps defenders guessing and allows the 5-foot-11 sophomore to get his defender out of position and free up those driving lanes. Arrowhead threw a lot of good defenders at Smith on Monday and not only did Smith go right at them, but he also had some big spurts offensively. A guy that’s going to need to carry Hamilton at times next season in a loaded Greater Metro Conference, Smith also dished out five assists on Monday.
Mac Wrecke Mac Wrecke 6'5" | SG Arrowhead | 2023 State #272 Nation WI – 2023 – W – Arrowhead
Wrecke had 13 points in a win over Sussex Hamilton. The 6-foot-3 wing played both ends of the floor very well. He didn’t shoot the ball as well as he’s capable of, but Wrecke countered with some tough drives to the bucket, including a key and-one late to all but put the game away. Wrecke is very tough and physical when he gets downhill, able to deliver a shoulder into his defender and just outmuscle them. He’s also drastically improved his perimeter skills over the past year and is a reliable 3-point shooter and shot creator. Also a plus athlete that can play above the rim, Wrecke brings a well-balanced, all-around skillset to the table.
