Dodd spoke with Prep Hoops this week about the range of college programs that have called him this month. The list includes high majors, mid majors, and low majors. Dodd’s exact level will be decided at a later date but the certainty is that Alonzo is a certain divisio one talent.
“I’m hearing the most from Milwaukee, Clemson, Colorado State, Illinois State, North Dakota State, Toledo, South Dakota State, and Cal, that’s who’s shown the most interest,” Dodd said. “I don’t have any visits set so far but I am looking forward to it.”
Sizzle is a 18-3 on the year so far using a deep roster of division one basketball players (and in the case of Chase Carter Chase Carter 6'7" | PF Minnehaha Academy | 2022 MN , a division one football player also hearing from D1 basketball programs). Dodd plays on the ball, and he plays off the ball. He’s the distributor at times, the playmaker at times, a shooter, and an attacker. He defends, boards, and does whatever the team needs.
“It’s been good, we have a good team and I do whatever we need to get done, mostly just being a point guard,” Dodd explained. “We’ve lost three games.”
Dodd is coming off a historic season at South St. Paul leading the team to 19-2. Dodd’s goal was the state tournament so he wanted even more but either way, what he’s done at SSP has been historic.
“There’s a few things I could say but that season didn’t end as, I myself, or others wanted,” Dodd said. “So just being a leader at SSP I would say I take pride in and hopefully not have that same outcome next year.”
