Adam’s Top-10 Stock Risers from the First Live Period
In this article:
DMV Live and DC Live did not disappoint. Here are my top-10 stock risers from the two events.
#10 | Charlie Jackson Charlie Jackson 6'5" | PF Episcopal | 2022 State VA | Episcopal (VA) ’22
Jackson showcased his productivity throughout DC Live. He plays with a motor that is always running and attacks the boards with aggression. Jackson had one of the more memorable stat-lines of the weekend when he pulled down 20+ rebounds to go along with 20+ points.
#9 | Ryan Archey Ryan Archey 6'0" | PG Gwynn Park | 2022 State MD | Gwynn Park (MD) ’22
Archey was outstanding for Gwynn Park over the weekend. He played both ends of the floor. Archey scored at will and got others open shots consistently.
#8 | Cam’ron Brown Cam’ron Brown 5'10" | PG Archbishop Carroll | 2022 State MD | Carroll (DC) ’22
Brown continues to build a strong resume. He did not look to be 100% but gutted out a series of inspirational performances from the lead guard spot. Brown’s ability to get into the paint regularly and keep his opponents out is a hallmark of his game.
#7 | Marcus Banks Marcus Banks 6'2" | SG Bethel | 2020 State VA | Riverdale Baptist (MD) ’23
Banks showcased his playmaking ability with Riverdale Baptist at DMV Live. He sets the tone with his defense, where he can keep his man in front. But Banks showed a new side to his game on offense. He scored when his team needed it but frequently got his teammates open shots as well.
#6 | Josh Rivers Josh Rivers 6'4" | SF Archbishop Spalding | 2022 State MD | Spalding (MD) ’22
Josh Rivers Josh Rivers 6'4" | SF Archbishop Spalding | 2022 State MD is quickly establishing a reputation as one of the more dangerous marksmen in the state of Maryland. The floor spacing he provides gives his teammates additional room to operate. Rivers isn’t a line-hugger either. He has range out to the volleyball line.
#5 | Chance Mallory Chance Mallory 5'10" | PG St. Anne's Belfield | 2025 State #73 Nation VA | STAB (VA) ’24
Mallory initially jumped off the page because of his moxie and skill. That hasn’t changed. Mallory has grown since we saw him in the winter, and that along with his determination helps him rebound abnormally well for his size. He recorded a double-double with points and in STAB’s contest against Spalding on Saturday.
#4 | Terrell Webster Terrell Webster 6'3" | PG McKinley Tech | 2023 State MD | McKinley Tech (DC) ’23
Based on what we saw over the weekend, Webster will be a virtual lock to be named to the All-DCIAA Team this year. His ability to make impact plays on both ends of the floor will be critical to his team’s success.
#3 | Davin Cosby Jr Davin Cosby Jr 6'5" | CG Word of God | 2023 #111 Nation NC . | John Marshall (VA) ’22
Cosby shot the cover off the ball at Maret. The silky-smooth wing scored in a myriad of ways. Whether spotting up, coming off screens or creating off the bounce, Cosby proved that he can consistently carry an offensive load while also giving tremendous effort defensively.
#2 | Deon Perry Deon Perry 5'8" | PG Mt. Carmel | 2022 State MD | Mt. Carmel (MD) ’22
Deon Perry Deon Perry 5'8" | PG Mt. Carmel | 2022 State MD finished out his live period with back-to-back 30-point outbursts for Mt. Carmel. On one leg. Perry was evidently hobbled by an ankle injury. His left leg was heavily taped, but he still couldn’t be stopped. Perry scored from all three levels, but the intangibles he brings at the point guard position simply can’t be measured. He is always in control, is a good communicator, and elevates the level of those around him.
#1 | Cameron Whitmore Cameron Whitmore 6'7" | PF Archbishop Spalding | 2022 State #30 Nation MD | Spalding (MD) ’22
Whitmore is bordering on five-star status after his series of marvelous performances. He looks healthy, explosive, and as athletic as ever. Whitmore is shooting the ball with confidence. He is guarding multiple positions, playing hard, and playing above the rim.
