The rest of the summer these players should be busy with team camps, individual camps, and AAU. We will take a look again at the rankings in the fall.
Biggest Risers in the 2023 Prospect Rankings:
Carson Yale Carson Yale 6'9" | PF Des Lacs Burlington | 2023 State ND |6-8 F| Des Lacs Burlington/ND Phenom – New Rank #4 Previous Ranking #8
Last year on varsity he put up 15 ppg and 9.5 rpg. He was also dunking on people every chance he got. If you have watched him play at all you know that he is tall and long. Carson is also very athletic for a player his size. His shooting range extends out to the 3-point line. Yale is a difficult matchup with his height, athleticism, skills, and versatility. He also excels at rebounding and protecting the rim.
Raymond Brown Raymond Brown 5'11" | PG Fargo Davies | 2023 State ND |5-10 G| Fargo Davies/ECI – New Rank #6 Previous Ranking #22
He might be the quickest player in this class. His speed going up and down the court is also tremendous. From what I have seen and heard his 3-point shooting is constantly improving. Brown’s ball skills are excellent and he sees the floor well. His hustle is maybe my favorite part of his game. Raymond’s energy never stops or slows down. He has been looking great in the AAU season with ECI.
Houston Davis Houston Davis 6'4" | SF Turtle Mountain | 2023 State ND |6-2 F| Turtle Mountain – New Rank #18 Previous Ranking #21
He is a natural basketball player and the game comes easy to him. Houston is a scorer that can hurt you in many ways. Davis is also a tough rebounder and a solid passer. Turtle Mountain graduated a large amount of scoring, expect Houston to put up big numbers in the high school season.
Kelson Keja Kelson Keja 5'7" | PG Four Winds/Minnewaukan | 2023 State ND |5-7 G| Four Winds Minnewaukan – New Ranking #25 Previous Ranking #31
He will step up as a leader for the Indians. Kelson should run the show and be the primary ballhandler for 4 Winds. He is a quick player with an explosive first step. Keja is a pesky and intense defender. I expect him and the Indians to have another impressive season.
Jay Wanzek Jay Wanzek 6'7" | PF Shiloh Christian | 2023 State ND |6-5 F| Shiloh Christian/ECI – New Ranking #27 Pevious Ranking #36
He and the Skyhawks played in the State Tournament last season. I imagine he will have his sites set on making another appearance. Jay is a big player with plenty of muscle. He can bang down low and he can also step out and shoot it with success. I expect Wanzek to be a double-double guy next year. Jay will play a big part in how far Shiloh goes next season.
Reis Rowekamp Reis Rowekamp 6'4" | SG Grand Forks Red River | 2023 State ND |6-2 G| Grand Forks Red Rive/ECI – New Ranking #28 Previous Ranking #42
A long and skilled backcourt player. Reis is a big-time shooter from 3-point land. His spin move is one of his best moves. He is a strong guard with legitimate skills. Between Rowekamp, Kraft, and Parks, the Roughriders will have a tough backcourt.
Maddox Doppler Maddox Doppler 6'5" | PF Bismarck St. Mary's | 2023 State ND |6-5 F| Bismarck St. Mary’s/ND Phenom – New Ranking #31 Previous Ranking #35
His length and versatility are what stand out initially for Doppler. He is a fluid athlete that can be disruptive on defense. Maddox is a creative and opportunistic scorer. He is crafty and smart with the ball. Doppler can also step outside and hit the open jump shot. He has been guarding great in AAU with ND Phenom. Maddox has also been moving well without the ball and taking what the defense give him. I see him as having a breakout year in the high school season.
Jase Dickens Jase Dickens 6'4" | SG White Shield | 2023 State ND |6-4 G| White Shield – New Ranking #35 Previous Ranking #40
He can really shoot it from beyond the arc. Jase can extend his range out deep to NBA depth. He is excellent at spacing the floor and finding room to get his shot off. Dickens shoots it true and soft. His pull-up game is also solid. With White gone to graduation, Dickens will need to score huge points next year.
Mitch Heinert Mitch Heinert 6'5" | PF Nedrose | 2023 State ND |6-5 F| Nedrose/ECI – New Ranking #43 Previous Ranking #61
This lefty is a physical forward. He has a ton of potential with his height, strength, and athletic ability. Mitch does his best work in the paint and on the block. There are very few players in Class B that can matchup up with him physically. Look for Heinert to be a beast next season.
