That direction is having players that can play multiple positions which has created positions such as Combo Guards that can play on the ball or off the ball but not be designated as Shooting Guards. The other position that seems to be trending is that Wing position that is designating players that can play that traditional 3 and 4 positions as well. Height is not defining positions anymore and here is a list of a few players that fit this flexible mold to watch.
6’5 Trey Evans Trey Evans 6'5" | PG RSL Academy | 2023 State UT | RSL Academy | CDE Elite |
Trey has tremendous IQ and he is able to use that IQ at various positions. From 1-3 Trey has the skill to create for himself or others. His length is great when he is the primary ball handler and when he is off the ball he is threat from deep. Like his mentality to slash and kick as well. Trey has upside and he continues to get better every year.
6’5 Micah Madry Micah Madry 6'5" | CG Hillcrest | 2023 State UT | Hillcrest High School | Utah Mountain Stars |
Micah has increased his stock as a slasher that can shoot the ball. He has a smooth lefty game out in the perimeter. When he makes quick decisions and when he doesn’t hesitate he is at his best. Good handle and athletic ability and it seems like he is just getting started.
6’6 Justus Fobbs-Jackson Justus Fobbs-Jackson 6'6" | SF Cyprus | 2023 UT | Cyprus High School | Utah Prospects |
Justus is a great athlete that is starting to really experience a lot of growth in his game. He is a straight line driver that is not afraid of contact. He is starting to understand the game at a higher level which is allowing him to get easier buckets or make better reads defensively. He is active on both ends of the floor.
6’6 Maverick McManus Maverick McManus 6'6" | SF Westlake | 2023 State UT | Westlake High School |
Maverick is an athletic 3-4 player that is a throwback tough kid that does the dirty work. He has a high motor. He can play any style of game including the up and down pace but in the half court he can really hold his own, especially against players with size. With a developing offensive game keep an eye on maverick moving forward.
6’7 Houston Johnsen Houston Johnsen 6'7" | SF Crimson Cliffs | 2023 State UT | Crimson Cliffs High School | Utah Prospects |
Houston is a lanky prospect that still has some room to grow physically. Houston has been able to get some minutes at a high level by being an energy giver as he is out on the floor trying to bring in every rebound and get every loose ball. Like is upside as he still has some years to get bigger, stronger and more skilled.
