Continue ReadingThe St Mary’s Team Camp was an opportunity for PH NorCal to see 2023, 2024 prospects play with their high school teams during the month of June when schools begin preparing for the upcoming season. It was a 3 day camp, PH was there for day 2. While there was plenty of high level players competing we chose to focus on players we haven’t seen. Here’s our list of underclassmen who caught our attention.
Prince Oseya 6’9 F/C of Modesto Christian HS 2023.
Our first look at Oseya, he has good size and length, and he gets up and down the court pretty well playing the post. He’s still on the raw side, his skill development is just beginning, nevertheless he has plenty of upside from what we observed. He has good instincts and recovers well on the defensive side of the ball. He has shot blocking capabilities, his presence in the paint was noticeable. He did a good job of going after rebounds. We’ll see more of him.
Andrej Stojakovic 6’5 G/W Jesuit HS 2023
Stojakovic has an improving skill set that’s only going to get better over time. He’s a bit on the thin side, but he’s one to watch going forward. It was our first look at the son of a former NBA Player. A good all around player who’s a threat to do positive things with the ball in his possession. He’s confident putting up shots, he has the touch, and range to hit 3-pointers, and good enough handles right now to get to his spots on the court and find others.
DeUndre Perteete 6’5 G/W of Skyline HS 2024
A fairly decent athlete who handles the ball well in the open court. He has good vision, while looking to pass it or push it. He handles the ball a lot up top, while delivering solid passes to initiate the offense, and is effective working from the wings, and baseline going towards the basket. He has a nice pull up jumper. He’s strong enough to guard bigger players in the post area.
Manasse Itete 6’6 F of Modesto Christian HS 2024
Itete a long armed solid body prospect who’s going to attract some attention based on what we saw. He seems a bit raw at first glance, but he does have a presence, and is effective working his way around the basket on the offensive end. He has good acceleration and length going up off two that could result in two handed dunks, and challenging players at the rim. He has good hands, and a good upper body to handle the contact inside. We’ll see more of him.
Jayden Teat Jayden Teat 6'3" | CG Capital Christian | 2023 State CA-N 6’2 CG of Jesuit HS 2023
The guard is fast pushing the ball in transition. He’s a point guard who really looks to take advantage of his speed on the court. Using his quickness, and bursts to create scoring opportunities for himself, as well as for his teammates. He’s confident on the offensive end with the ability to get buckets. He can score in multiple ways by attacking on the drive, the mid-range jumper or knock down a 3 when it’s there. He’ll have to polish his game up a bit. He has good qualities.
BJ Davis 6’3 G/W of Modesto Christian HS 2023
Davis is a must see athletic player who’ll attract some attention with his overall play. He’s a combo guard right now, who can score in different ways, along with making players around him better. He’s got slick handles, and good vision to make passes to cutters, and slashers going to the basket. He gives good effort on both side of the ball, with good length to be a disruptor on the defensive side of the ball. He had a few chase down blocks at this event.
Kai Wallin Kai Wallin 6'5" | PF Jesuit | 2022 State CA-N 6’5 Forward of Jesuit HS. 2022
The big body forward has to be mentioned with his solid play at this event. He’s strong plays with good balance and tries to dunk everything when he’s on balance. He has a good set of skills around the basket including a nice short range jumper he uses on the baseline and at the high post. He can hold his own defending in the post. A good rebounding forward who’ll box and go after the ball.
