That direction is having players that can play multiple positions which has created positions such as Combo Guards that can play on the ball or off the ball but not be designated as Shooting Guards. The other position that seems to be trending is that Wing position that is designating players that can play that traditional 3 and 4 positions as well. Height is not defining positions anymore and here is a list of a few players that fit this flexible mold to watch.
6’6 Henry Irhig Henry Irhig 6'6" | CG Davis | 2022 State UT | Davis High School | Kongo Elite |
Henry is one of those do it all type prospects. He plays tough inside defensively often times undersized but he holds his own. When guarding smaller players he is moving laterally well enough to stay in-front. He is a high IQ player that can nock shots down from all over the floor. He is impressive off the ball as he can move well and find spots to score. On the blocks he is a threat with his back to the basket and in that face-up game.
6’6 McCoy Langston McCoy Langston 6'6" | CG Copper Hills | 2022 State UT | Copper Hills High School | Utah Prospects |
McCoy is a sharp shooting guard that can play PG at times and the Wing as well. Impressed with what he can do with the ball in his hands. When he is off the ball he does a great job of going to the basket and creating for others and himself. He is a must find player out on the perimeter because he can knock down those catch and shot opportunities. Look for him to really bolster his stock this summer.
6’5 Zab Santana Zab Santana 6'5" | CG Cedar City | 2022 State UT | Cedar City High School | Las Vegas Punishers |
Zab is a sleeper athlete that is a big body guard that can take his defenders down on the post and out muscle them which often leads to him getting rebounds as well. He has a great mid-range and he is a threat out beyond the three. Will have a load to carry next year and his role as a scorer will increase.
6’5 Kam Dupaix Kam Dupaix 6'5" | CG Bingham | 2022 State UT | Bingham High School | Utah Premier |
Kam is a great Swiss Army Knife as a big guard. He takes small guard on the post and can blow by bigger defenders as well. What makes Kam one impressive prospect is that he can defend at a high level against any position. He is also shooting the ball extremely well from deep. Look for him to have a breakout year.
6’6 Yaw Reneer Yaw Reneer 6'5" | CG American Fork | 2022 State UT | American Fork High School | Utah Prospects |
Yaw is a prospect that has a little bit of everything. He is tough, rebounds and can step out and shoot the ball as well. He is serviceable bringing the ball up, especially to release pressure. Does almost everything out on the floor well. He has a chance to pop and turn heads this summer. Look fo rhim to turn it up.
