Continue ReadingThe list of elite level prospects from southeastern Pennsylvania (and beyond) who are transferring high schools this off-season continues to grow here in late June. Since our fourth installment of the Spring 2021 transfer watch, several more exceptionally talented area prospects have announced they will be changing schools this summer.
Among those highlighted in our fifth list of transfers for Spring 2021 are two high level Class of 2024 prospects from New Jersey who have decided to cross the Delaware River and attend high school in Pennsylvania next year.
Tristen Guillouette – 6”8’ / Sophomore / St. Joseph’s Prep / Power Forward: The former Life Center Academy (NJ) varsity reserve is ready for a much bigger role at his new school. Guillouette possesses solid footwork and an ability to finish at the rim with either hand. He is a thick bodied interior player who with some work in the weight room, could be a real force down low. Recently at the Philly HS Live (Session I) event, he posted a 16 points and 10 boards double-double vs. Harrisburg (PA).
Jaren Morton – 6’4” / Junior / Springside Chestnut Hill Academy / Shooting Guard: The closing of basketball powerhouse Bishop McDevitt continues to have a positive impact on area basketball rosters. In this case, SCHA picks up a long and athletic guard who is versatile enough to also play as a small forward. Morton owns text book shooting mechanics and range out to behind the arc (41% on threes last season). However, Morton is more than just a 3-point ace. This 2023 prospect gets out on the fast break, fills lanes and can finish through contact. He can also crash the offensive glass and convert second chance buckets in traffic. Morton recently picked up an offer from Siena
Cooper Mueller Cooper Mueller 6'3" | SG Radnor | 2023 State PA – 6’2” / Junior / Radnor / Wing: The highly athletic (a two-sport athlete who also excels in lacrosse) wing player returns to Radnor after he spent the 2020-21 Covid season playing for Park City HS in Utah. His speed, athleticism and ability to score in traffic make Mueller a phenomenal transition player. In the half-court he can knock down threes and distribute the rock. A high basketball IQ compliments Mueller’s basketball skills. Recently at the Millersville University Team Camp event Mueller posted a 15 points and 3 assists game. On the grassroots circuit Mueller plays for SJ Hoops Elite-Grey.
Thomas Sorber – 6’10” / Sophomore / Archbishop Ryan / Power Forward: A big who owns a wingspan longer than 6’9” and large hands, Sorber (formerly of Trenton Catholic Academy in NJ) catches everything that is thrown to him. Once he has received the rock, Sorber can absorb contact and finish at the rim. For a 15-year old, Sorber establishes position on the low blocks well and can then score with his back to the basket. This spring playing for Team Final EYBL, he has also displayed has range on his jumper out to 3-point line. At the other end of the floor, Sorber contests shots well. At the Philly HS Live (Session I) tournament, Sorber scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a win over St. Thomas Aquinas (NJ). This past weekend, during the Philly HS Live (Session II) event Sorber posted an 18 point and 10 boards game vs. Bergen Catholic (NJ).
Blaise Vespe Blaise Vespe 6'7" | SF Neumann-Goretti | 2021 State PA – 6’7” / Senior / IMG Academy / Wing: A two year starter for Neumann-Goretti who helped win the Saints capture the 2019-2020 Philadelphia Catholic League title, Vespe’s game has grown tremendously in the last few seasons. Once thought of a just a three point marksmen who spaced the floor for NG, in 2020-21 Vespe proved that he could score off the bounce. Once at the rim, he owns enough athleticism and hops to occasionally flush on a defender’s head. This past season Vespe averaged 8.2 ppg to go along with 4 rpg. He holds offers from several mid / low DI schools.
