Continue ReadingThis weekend was a treat to have two Utah teams in attendance to one of the best tournaments in the country as shoe teams and top independent programs clashed this weekend in Dallas, TX. Utah Mountain Stars made the trek as did the Utah Prospects. Bothe teams played well and had a few players standout.
Kolton Smith Kolton Smith 6'4" | SG Skyline | 2022 State UT | Utah Mountain Stars | Skyline High School |
Kolton has a smooth game. He seems very calm serving as a ball handler that can flat out shoot the rock. He is not afraid of pulling from deep, deep. Saw him pass up a few 3’s and was impressed with his footwork at the mid-range. Good passer that always has his head up and he is not a tunnel vision shooter. He held his own this weekend on both ends of the floor. Intriguing prospect whose stock will continue to rise.
Rex Sunderland Rex Sunderland 6'4" | PG Davis | 2022 State UT | Utah Prospects | Davis High School |
Rex once again showed that he could defend at a high level. A lot of times he was matched up against some of the best scorers in the country and stopping them isn’t always realistic. Rex has been in his mid-range bag all weekend as teams chases him over the top of screens, he is able to create separation and nail those 15-foot jumpers. Shot the ball well on Sunday as he hit those tough open jumpers with supreme athletes closing out. Rex’s decision making and vision continues to get better.
Keba Keita Keba Keita 6'9" | C Wasatch Academy | 2022 State #157 Nation UT | Utah Mountain Stars | Wasatch Academy |
Keba is a physical specimen out there as he can absorbed contact and finish with so much authority. You can see that he is still raw but he has a great motor and he runs the floor really well. His footwork is still raw but he finds ways to make some bit time finishes. he is a rim protector that has no fear. Could be a D1 Sleeper as he has a lot of tools that can translate to the next level in the right program. With no official offers but he is hearing from a lot of schools.
Collin Chandler Collin Chandler 6'5" | CG Farmington | 2022 State #28 Nation UT | Utah Prospects | Farmington High School |
Collin displayed a lot of offensive skill. He got to the rim a few times but as he was constantly met by bigs he turned to his midrange game. Collin played a lot of minutes as he was needed on both ends of the floor. Collin has a great looking shot. He is constantly under pressure and he knows how to break it and find open players.
Jack Wistrcill Jack Wistrcill 6'8" | PF Olympus | 2022 State UT | Utah Mountain Stars | Olympus High School |
Jack has a great physical game but what changes the game up for him is that he can step out and shoot the ball. Impressed with how quick he can get out of the short corner and to the corner three with quickness. He has some great passing ability for a big man. He is another LM sleeper that has a chance. Interested to see how he does against other shoe programs bigs.
