Jake Wihtol Jake Wihtol 6'5" | PF Tigard | 2021 State OR (2021 Tigard) +38 (from #96 to #54)
The biggest riser on our updated rankings is Wihtol who was rather anonymous to us last season but really made some noise with Elite 24 during the off-season. He’s a hard-working 6-foot-5 forward who faces up and shoots it well. Wihtol currently has some D-III offers to decide from.
Aiden Grady Aiden Grady 6'7" | PF Westview | 2021 State OR (2021 Westview) +35 (from #64 to #29)
Grady makes a big jump largely due to the fact he was able to sign early with Maine Fort Kent. The 6-foot-8 post runs the floor well, has solid post moves and a nice soft touch around the paint, and has improved his ability to shoot with range. His best ball will be to come in college.
Luke Winkler Luke Winkler 5'10" | CG Grant | 2021 State OR (2021 Grant) +23 (from #86 to #63)
Winkler was scheduled to have an increased role this season in the backcourt and he’s definitely delivered so far for the Generals. The shifty point guard handles the ball well without turning it over, shoots it well from the outside, and in general makes good decisions with his passing.
Kevin Sanchez Kevin Sanchez 6'2" | CG Crook County | 2021 State OR (2021 Crook County) +19 (from #87 to #68)
It’s hard to grab attention east of the Cascades but Sanchez has started to do that. He showed great energy and motor playing some tournaments with Elite 24 and has now been setting the house on fire with his scoring during the 2021 season. He’s verbally committed to Wenachee Valley CC.
Finn Barkenaes Finn Barkenaes 6'2" | CG Beaverton | 2021 State OR (2021 Beaverton) +18 (from #106 to #88)
Barkenaes was a part of the prestigious US Basketball Academy squad that played on the Grind Session and he got valuable experience playing not only against national competition but in practice every day. He’s a gritty defensive-oriented guard with a super high GPA.
Bennett Bos Bennett Bos 6'3" | SG Salem Academy | 2021 State OR (2021 Salem Academy) +13 (from #75 to #60)
The 6-foot-3 Bos is a tough guard who not only plays with intensity on both ends but can knock down open shots. The Salem Academy senior had a solid run with Oregon Prospects and should be getting looks from small colleges in-state.
Eli Mesulam Eli Mesulam 5'10" | PG Cleveland | 2021 State OR (2021 Cleveland) +12 (from #67 to #54)
Mesulam is another gritty guard type – are we sensing a trend here? The 5-foot-10 point guard can really shoot the ball having led 6A in three-point field goal percentage last year but so far this season has been choosing to run the offense and defer to other players.
Spencer Lanier Spencer Lanier 6'5" | SF Newberg | 2021 State OR (2021 Newberg) +120 (from #50 to #38)
Lanier is an all-purpose forward who has a good nose for the ball and always seems to be in the right place at the right time. He had some good moments playing with International Elite in AAU ball and had some college opportunities, but a foot injury led him to make the tough decision to retire from competitive basketball after his senior season.
