In my opinion, South Florida is the crown jewel of athletic competition. You have a lot of very good players who don’t necessarily get the credit they deserve.
Let’s look into some of those names…part two
Jovany Philistin – Atlantic Christian
Philistin was one of three freshman or sophomores on the Sharks’ roster last season. The 6-foot guard averaged 15.4 points per game over five recorded contests for Atlantic Christian. Philistin would be the team’s top returning scorer after the graduation of 2021 Gerson Civil. Against Highlands Christian (10-6), Philistin scored a season-high 21 points and knocked down five 3-pointers. He added 20 points and drained four 3-pointers against Cardinal Newman. Philistin certainly has some offensive ability and range on his shot. He is also a Track and Field athlete for Atlantic Christian.
Logan Karvoski – Elite Academy
2022 Logan Karvoski helped Elite Academy to a 13-9 overall record while leading the team in scoring with 11.7 points per game. Moreover, the 6-foot-1 guard went 37-of-80 (46 percent) from the perimeter. Against powerhouse St. Andrew’s (11-6), Karvoski scored 15 points and went 4-of-7 from deep. Furthermore, Karvoski has a shooting touch that resulted in nine games over 50 percent from the floor. He is also a nice rebounding guard after grabbing five or more in six games. Along with Karvoski, virtually all of Elite Academy’s roster should be back next season.
Tristan Arneaud Tristan Arneaud 5'8" | PG Somerset Academy | 2022 State FL – Somerset Academy
The Panthers will have some points to fill with the losses of 2021’s Jonathan Renois (17.8 ppg), Christopher Scott Christopher Scott 6'0" | PG Somerset | 2021 State FL (9.4 ppg) and Jonathan Norman Jonathan Norman 6'7" | PF Somerset | 2021 State FL (7.3 ppg). Behind 2023 David Delancy IV David Delancy IV 6'5" | CG Somerset Pines | 2023 FL IV, Arneaud will be Somerset Academy’s top scorer from last season. The 2022 point guard averaged 8.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. Against Archbishop McCarthy, Arneaud had 16 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and four steals. For next season, I would like to see a little more consistency in his shot. The Panthers will gladly take that boost from him.
Solomon McFarlane – American Heritage Patriots
2022 Solomon McFarlane is a name to know over in Plantation. The 6-foot-1 guard averaged 14.1 points and 2.7 rebounds per game for head coach Raja Bell. Bell played 12 seasons for six NBA teams before getting into coaching. Certainly, Solomon is learning from one of the best. Also look out for 6-foot-4 forward Stevenson Borgella. The rising senior averaged 10.8 points and 4.3 rebound per game last season for the Patriots. Bell has some talent to work with as most of his roster consists of rising seniors.
Josiah Daniels Josiah Daniels 6'3" | PG Bradenton Christian | 2022 State FL – American Heritage Stallions
Up in Delray Beach, Doublette is a shifty guard that played well last season for the Stallions. The 5-foot-11 playmaker averaged a steady 13.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.6 steals across eleven games. Moreover, Doublette went 12-of-34 (35 percent) from deep. He has some range in his shooting ability and is a nice on-ball defender. Doublette recorded seven games with three or more steals. Against The King’s Academy (18-3), he had 22 points, nine rebounds and four assists. He also added a season-high 14 boards against iMater Charter (13-6). Doublette is pretty athletic around this area of the floor given his size.
