As a student-athlete, you get to meet and bond with your potential teammates in class or at lunch, but this year they did not get that experience. For those who made the varsity basketball team they now need to learn a new system quickly. Here a few underclassmen who have had a big impact on their teams at such a young age in a tough position to be in.
Trevor Henning — 6’0 Graduating class of 2024
Henning is a quick guard who uses his quickness to get to the rim. As a freshman, he is scoring 10.4 points a game and has had two games scoring 21. He is shooting a high percentage from both the field and the three-point line. Henning has a high IQ and is great at protecting the ball, keeping his turnovers low. He is a player who will play twenty minutes and have zero turnovers, which says so much about his confidence level at his age. Henning leads all freshmen in scoring in the Seattle area.
Mark Lewis — Graduating class of 2023
As a sophomore Lewis is scoring 9 points a game and has averaged 7 rebounds a game as well. As you watch him play, you can see the potential he has and his game continues to grow. His season-high in rebounds is 12 which is very impressive. You can see that he understand the game and works hard on both ends of the floor. The effort and willingness to do the little things is there. Once he gets going there will be no stopping this young man. He will be someone to keep your eye on.
Jojo Johnson — 6’3 Graduating class of 2023
Johnson is a multi-sport athlete who uses his athletic ability very well on the court. He is a lockdown defender and has no problem guarding the best player on the court. His high energy on defense does not slow him down offensively. He is scoring 12.5 points per game. He is a young man that is so much fun to watch and has earned multiple player of the game awards over the last 2 seasons. I am sure there are a lot of people out there who are keeping a close eye of this kid, he can play!
Murphy Blackburn — 6’4 Graduating class of 2023
I have now watched Blackburn play a few times and each game he got better and better. He is scoring 11.8 points per game and adding 6 rebounds. As he has evolved in a short amount of time he has improved in reading the defense. He has also gained a lot of confidence and at a young age, his confidence is everything. He is learning how to use his athletic ability and has gotten such a better feel for the game. His last game was his best game as he had a season-high of 22 points and he will use that momentum to continue to get better.
