Prince Aligbe Prince Aligbe 6'6" | SF Minnehaha Academy | 2022 State #167 Nation MN – 2022 – SF – Grassroots Sizzle
Aligbe was a powerful, imposing presence on the interior during a loss to Wisconsin Playground Club Sunday morning. The 6-foot-6 small forward had a team-high 14 points, including a flurry in the second half that helped Sizzle get within one possession late. Aligbe dominated around the rim, slashing to the cup, generating second-chance opportunities, and just keeping things alive at times. Loved the way he rebounded the ball on the defensive glass as well. Aligbe snatched the ball at its highest point and simply muscles people out of position with hard, but clean box outs.
Matas Buzelis – 2023 – SF – Full Package
Like the package and upside of Buzelis. The 6-foot-8 small forward has plenty of skill, bounce, shooting ability to be a real mismatch nightmare. A lanky, but athletic prospect, Buzelis makes some special things happen above the rim. He can also just size people up on the perimeter and go to work. Needs to get stronger and has a lot of room to grow into his body, but Buzelis certainly isn’t soft. He plays with a noticeable edge and swagger. He was terrific down the stretch against Houston Defenders, making a variety of plays on Sunday night.
Jack Campion Jack Campion 5'10" | PG Milton | 2022 State WI – 2022 – PG – Wisconsin Playground Club
Mid-majors need to start jumping on board here. Campion showed his worth during a tight win over Texas Impact. In addition to the game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer, Campion came up with a handful of clutch buckets for PGC. An electrifying ball handler with tremendous burst, Campion was able to cut through the defense like butter at times. On the ball, Campion has some of the best breakdown ability in the Midwest. Also a plus 3-point shooter, Campion is going to make defenders pick their poison and choose what they want to give up. His size (5-11) isn’t an issue on the defensive end. Campion is a dog and super quick, able to cut off straight-line drives and fly around and make things happen.
Learic Davis Learic Davis 6'7" | SF Milwaukee Bradley Tech | 2022 State WI – 2022 – G/W – Wisconsin Playground Club
It’s starting to click for Davis. He knows it and it’s fun to watch. The Milwaukee Bradley Tech product came up with another big effort Sunday afternoon, scoring 18 points against Texas Impact. One of the knocks on Davis is his outside shooting ability, but he connected on four triples, most of which were pretty difficult shots with a hand in his face. The 6-foot-7 junior has been so good this weekend as a playmaker. He came up as a guy that had to get up and down in transition to be successful. He’s clearly worked on his handle, vision, passing ability and can now thrive in half court sets as well. I’ll be honest, I had been skeptical of some of the offers that came his way, which I thought were premature. Credit Davis who’s turning me into a believer this weekend and I’m eager to see where he can go if he keeps working. Schools already know he’s a big time athlete, but I have to think his stock could soar in July if Davis continues to be this well-rounded.
Colby Duggan – 2023 – SF – New England 6
Sleeper that grabbed my attention Sunday night, Duggan had 16 points in a loss to Wisconsin Playground Club. Duggan is a 6-foot-6 sniper that can also post. He did some real damage on the block, taking advantage of mismatch opportunities. Think there’s an all-around skillset here too. Duggan does the little things — competes on the glass, defends, makes the right basketball play, etc. He had some really good finds from the high post, hitting back door cutters and slips. Duggan is also way more athletic than he looks. He’ll dunk and play above the rim while off two feet. Siena is the lone offer for Duggan to this point.
Colin Hardrick Colin Hardrick 6'3" | CG Wauwatosa West | 2022 State WI – 2022 – G – Wisconsin Playground Club
Hardrick had 19 points in an overtime loss to a very good C2K Elite squad. Putting his team on his back, Hardrick had a big fourth quarter to help PGC rally from a seven-point deficit with about 1:30 left in regulation. An instant offense type prospect, Hardrick is an excellent pull-up mid-range shooter and shot creator. He’s very shifty and quick when changing directions in the halfcourt. A plus althete, the 6-foot-1 guard can get above the rim and does some explosive things, not only as a scorer, but as a shot blocker as well. Tough to know where he stands in the 2022 class. Hardrick, who won’t turn 16 until August, plays at the 16U level. If he ends up reclassifying to 2023, Hardrick should get Division 1 looks.
Luke Haertle Luke Haertle 6'2" | SG Lake Country Lutheran | 2022 State WI – 2022 – SG – Wisconsin Playground Club
With Jeff Brazziel out with an injury, Haertle picked up the slack Sunday morning against Grassroots Sizzle. The Lake Country Lutheran star poured in a game-high 21 points to help PGC advance to the quarterfinals. He followed that up with 17 in a win over Texas Impact. Going to start referring Haertle as ’Baby Doncic.’ He’s got that stocky body type and defenders think they can crawl all up on him without getting beat, but Haertle is different when it comes to IQ and footwork and just finds different ways to put the ball in the hole. Haertle also has an extreme will to win. He’s one of the best rebounding and defending guards in the state. Haertle has no reservations about putting his body on the line each time he steps on that court.
Emmett Loew Emmett Loew 6'0" | SG Pewaukee | 2022 State WI – 2022 – G – Wisconsin Playground Club
Loew could probably be getting big minutes on a lot of different teams around the state. A rare breed in today’s climate, this kid just doesn’t seem to abandon ship easily. Loew plays on a loaded high school team that won a state championship. Minutes don’t get any easier to come by during the summer. Yet, Loew is carving out a bigger role for himself by the day while facing some of the best players in the country. Loew goes into every game not even knowing if he’ll play, but the Pewaukee guard is always ready when his number is called. He came up big with three triples and a steal with under 20 seconds to go that set up Campion’s game-winning shot. Against Texas Impact, Loew was on the floor most of the second half and the entire fourth quarter. Loew provides a 3-point shooting presence, but his tenacity and competitiveness on the defensive end is way overlooked in the state. Texas Impact wasn’t ready for what was coming as Loew came up with a few timely steals and it changed that game after it looked like PGC would let one get away.
Robert Peters Robert Peters 6'8" | PF West Allis Hale | 2023 State WI – 2023 – PF – Wisconsin Playground Club
Peeters took some good steps forward this weekend and is starting to give PGC a nice boost in the frontcourt. Peeters had some good moments in the post, showing off some improved footwork and ability to finish with either hand. A strong, athletic forward, Peeters can run the floor and protect the rim. Thought his motor on the glass and willingness to compete for contested rebounds also turned up a notch. A top 15 prospect in the 2023 class, Peeters is still just scratching the surface, but played some of his best ball in Indianapolis.
Deshawn Webb Deshawn Webb 6'3" | CG Milwaukee Academy of Science | 2023 State WI – 2023 – G – Living Word Lutheran
Liked a lot of the stuff Webb did in a loss to Martin Bros. It was a tough game for PGC — calls and bounces didn’t go their way. They also didn’t shoot well. However, that didn’t deter Webb from playing extremely hard and battling. You could see the frustration from everyone, but Webb didn’t throw in that towel until the final buzzer and got better as the game wore on. While he’s a sophomore, Webb is expected to reclassify to 2024. A high motor guard who can get downhill and relentlessly attack the rim, Webb challenges defenders with a bulldog style of play and mentality. Also one of the best defenders in the state, Webb rattles a lot of people with his physical nature, long arms, and motor that doesn’t have an off switch.
