UA sponsored teams from around the country were in attendance, so it was a great chance to see a wealth of talent to end the month of May. I’ll be doing breakdowns of each day with notebooks from the guards, wings an bigs. We move on to the wing prospects that I caught throughout the day.
Christian Watson Christian Watson 6'6" | SF St. John's | 2022 State #121 Nation MD | 6’7 | DC Premier ’22
Watson hit some deep three’s in the first game of the day, which resulted in a loss to Team Thrill, but in their second game against PSB he played with much better pace and assertiveness. The 6-foot-7 wing shot with confidence, led the fast break and manufactured points and assists while doing so. Watson scored 11 points and pulled down three rebounds in the winning effort.
Justyn Fernandez | 6’6 | DC Premier ’22
Similar to Watson, Fernandez had a much better outing in the second game. He was on the receiving end of lobs in the half court running back screens and had a couple of smooth mid-range jumpers after one or two dribbles. Against PSB, Fernandez finished with a stat line of 10 points and six rebounds.
Jarace Walker | 6’8 | Team Thrill ’22
Walker was critical in his team’s opening win over Premier as he finished with 20 points. When Walker is determined and willing to use his body as a battering ram on drives the rim, the game can be quite simple. There just aren’t many players at the high school level that can stop him when he has that mindset. He rebounded well out of his area and altered many shots as well in the win over Premier.
Culearic Davis | 6’8 | Wisconsin Playground Club ’22
Davis shined in his team’s second game of the day against Nova Village. He caught the eyes of many with his athletic finishes through traffic and was key in helping spark a comeback after Wisconsin PGC came out of the gates dragging their feet. Davis recorded 16 points off the bench and did so in an efficient manner.

Jaxon Edwards Jaxon Edwards 6'6" | SF Cathedral | 2022 State IN | 6’6 | D1 Indiana ’22
Edwards set the tone early for D1 Indiana in their upset win over Team Thrill. The 6-foot-6 wing was relentless in his drives to the rim and any time the opportunity came to light, he was trying to throw down dunks with authority. Edwards connected on those attempts multiple times. He displayed a tremendous motor by running the floor and getting wide in the lanes where his guard would find him in stride.
Cortez Johnson Cortez Johnson 6'7" | PF St. Frances | 2022 State MD | 6’7 | Team Thrill ’23
Johnson wasn’t there for Thrill 16’s first game, but quickly reminded folks what he brings to this talented team as a 3/4. He only scored two points, but that didn’t mean he didn’t have significant impact. Johnson blocked over a handful of shots and was all over the glass at both ends of the floor. He’s a quick leaper even on his second jump that allows him to block shots then quickly get off the ground to corral them and secure the possession for his team.
