Rebounding is important at every position on the court. Having players who crash the boards can help any team win big games. Great rebounding takes not only skill but so much effort.
Alphabetically here are PHD’s best rebounders for next year:
Aaron Grubb Aaron Grubb 6'3" | PF Mandan | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-2 F| Mandan/ND Phenom – 7.1 RPG last season. He was 7th in the WDA in rebounding this season. Aaron defines hard working! He is gritty and he fights for position. Grubb has great anticipatory skills. I like his style of play. He gets the most out of his ability and he leaves it all out on the floor.
Carter Zeller Carter Zeller 6'6" | PF Fargo North | 2024 State ND (2024) |6-5 F| Fargo North/ECI Prospects – 6.3 RPG last season. For a freshman, he was an amazing post player and rebounder. It is very rare for a freshman to play inside in the EDC. Zeller does not shy away from contact and in some instances he initiates it. I love his energy and enthusiasm. Carter is an exciting player who will be a force on the boards for the Spartans.
Conner Kraft Conner Kraft 6'5" | PF Shanley | 2023 State ND (2023) |6-6 F| Fargo Shanley/Howard Pulley – 9 RPG last season. He was a fierce rebounder this past year in the EDC. After a year of growing, lifting, and playing AAU I expect Conner to lead the EDC in rebounding this upcoming season. He is a highlight-type athlete. Kraft is no stranger to put-back slam dunks. His long arms and explosiveness make him an elite rebounder.
Dominic Dosmann Dominic Dosmann 6'8" | PF WF Sheyenne | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-8 F| West Fargo Sheyenne/ECI Prospects – 4.4 RPG last season. It was tough for him to average a ton of rebounds this season because Moni and Leake were exceptional rebounders in their own right. With those two gone because of graduation, Dosmann will be the big man on campus in 2021-2022. He is tall with long arms, and it looks like he might still be growing. This past weekend he took care of business on the glass for ECI. I expect him to be towards the top of the EDC next year for rebounds per game.
Ethan Manock Ethan Manock 6'4" | PF Wahpeton | 2023 State ND (2023) |6-4 F| Wahpeton – 7.7 RPG last season. He was a beast on the boards this season. He is a powerful and explosive player. Manock can jump out of the gym and sky for rebounds. I have witnessed multiple O-board slam dunks from Ethan. He is a supreme athlete. Manock just won an EDC Championship in the javelin throw. I am predicting he is in the top 3 for rebounding in the EDC for the coming year.
Max Froslie Max Froslie 6'8" | PF Fargo Davies | 2023 State ND (2023) |6-7 F| Fargo Davies/ECI Selects – He did not get a ton of action on varsity this season because Davies was deep and talented. This coming year Max should be the anchor down low for the Eagles. He has long arms, it looks like he has go-go gadget arms. They go on forever, that is a great quality when it comes to rebounding! Froslie has the potential to be a very good rebounder.
Michael Nhial Michael Nhial 6'7" | SF West Fargo Sheyenne | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-7 F| West Fargo Sheyenne/Team Sizzle – 4.4 RPG last season. That is an impressive number since he was competing for boards against his own teammates like Moni, Leake, and Dosmann. Michael and Dominic will make up the best rebounding combo in the state next year. Nhial is extremely athletic with a great vertical. He might have the most upside and potential out of everyone on the list.
Nick Carlson Nick Carlson 6'4" | SF West Fargo | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-3 F| West Fargo/ECI Prospects – 1.6 RPG last season. His rebounding numbers are low because he did not get much clock on varsity this year. He was behind Birrenkott and Pease who will both be college athletes. Carlson has been an animal on the boards so far for ECI in AAU action. He is a physical player with a motor that never stops. I am expecting big things out of Mr. Carlson next season.
Ryan Erikson Ryan Erikson 6'10" | C Bismarck Century | 2023 State ND (2023) |6-8 F| Bismarck Century/ND Phenom – 9.2 RPG last season. He was second in the WDA in rebounding this year as a sophomore. He has a nose for the ball and a great knack for knowing where the ball will come off the rim. Ryan has the height, weight, strength, and determination to be the top rebounder in Class-A in the 2021-2022 season. Expect him to average a double-double.
Zander Albers Zander Albers 6'5" | PF Bismarck Legacy | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-5 F| Bismarck Legacy/ND Phenom – 7.3 RPG last season. He was tied for 5th in the WDA in rebounding this year. Albers is very very bouncy! He is lanky with a long wingspan. Zander is a great athlete, he is currently a stud at the triple jump in track and field. He is a D-1 level jumper, that correlates well to rebounding!
