The purpose of the event is to provide a high-level setting to evaluate and provide exposure to under-the-radar prospects. As always it’s the players who make the event. In this article, we preview some of the players to Watch at the Territorial Classic.
Pharaoh Compton Pharaoh Compton 6'7" | PF Arbor View | 2024 State #74 Nation NV 6’5 SF Chosen Few 2024 (#9PHN 2024) – It will be a pleasure to evaluate one of the top Freshmen in the state under these circumstances. Compton is a remarkable athlete, who at times can be unstoppable in transition. In these highly competitive matchups, I’m interested in how the young lefty performs in tight situations.
Declan Sawin Declan Sawin 6'1" | SF Founders | 2022 State NV 6’0 SF Close Out 2022 (#39PHN 2022) – Sawin will be the main guy for the closeout squad. He’s a versatile player, that will be counted on to provide multiple roles. Don’t be surprised to see him handling the ball, defend the opposing team’s best player, or helping out with rebounds.
Lucas Bulat 5’10 PG South Phoenix 2023 (#144PHA 2023) – Bulat is a powerful high IQ guard. He has the chance to really make a name for himself at the TC. Bulat is a sniper, with the ability to impact games with his accuracy from behind the line. If SP is to leave Utah with the chip, he will have to be on point and accurate.
Joshua Speirs Joshua Speirs 6'2" | SG Uintah | 2022 State UT 6’2 SG Uintah 2022 (#34PHU 2022) – I’m really excited to see Speirs. Here’s an underrated kid that has quietly put together a brilliant high school career. Speirs averaged almost 16 per game last season for the Utes and has a chance to end his scholastic career as a 1000 point scorer. No better place for him to breakout than at the TC.
Jack Silberman Jack Silberman 6'4" | SF Faith Lutheran | 2022 State NV 6’2 SG Faith Lutheran 2022 (#51PHN 2022) – Saw Silberman last weekend at Pangos, and was impressed with his athleticism. Known more as a shooter, the 6’2 guard competed well, crashing the glass for boards and driving to the lane. With this added dimension, don’t be surprised if he has a big weekend in Utah.
Dontrell Johnson Dontrell Johnson 6'5" | SF Trinity | 2022 State NV 6’5 SF Desert Valley Prep 2022 (#8PHN 2022) – Johnson is one of the top stockrisers in the state, with the opportunity to go even higher. The athletic wing is a versatile defender, and an electrifying driver, and slasher. His newest dimension has been the ability to create for himself, and make 3’s behind the line. He has an opportunity to show up and show out at the TC.
