Continue ReadingGood wings and forwards have the most impact on today’s game. So they’re crucial when putting together a team. ’22 Alcantara (Reading/ Team Final Red) and ’23 Kelly (Penn Hills/ Team Final EYBL) were two of the top performers from Team Final Day. Here are a few more:
Devyn Wright-Myles Devyn Wright-Myles 6'3" | SF Hamilton West | 2024 State NJ 6’2 2024 Team Final Black
Matching up against taller players most of the day, Wright-Myles was fiercely competitive. With quickness, toughness, and length, the rising sophomore at TCA battled for rebounds, extending possessions for his team and creating high percentage looks for himself (13pts in game 1). His attributes make him a versatile team defender too, helping on drives and making timely rotations.
Jaden Murray Jaden Murray 6'7" | PF Archbishop Ryan | 2024 State PA 6’5 2024 Team Final
This young man got ACTIVE. Versus TF Black, he stole 2-3 passes and deflected even more. Then he turned it up against TF Red. Only this time, he had 4 blocks to go along with 14pts. He got his buckets primarily using his athleticism, including a big dunk from driving down the lane.
Elijah Brown Elijah Brown 6'4" | SG Life Center Academy | 2025 State NJ 6’4 2024 Team Final
The dual-sport athlete from St. Augustine Prep (NJ) adds value to the team, no matter what line up he’s in, due to his ability to move the ball. Elijah perfectly timed passes to teammates cutting and spotting up from three. Against Red, he did some cutting and driving of his own, scoring 14 pts in the process.
Justin Edwards Justin Edwards 6'6" | PF Imhotep Charter | 2023 State #3 Nation PA 6’6 2023 Team Final
Edwards didn’t have eye popping numbers on Saturday, totaling around 20 points in two games. Yet his skill level and impact were on display. With an advanced handle for his size, Justin capitalized on the slightest of advantages that he and others created. His combination of tools and feel give him multiple paths for development.
DeBarrin Norman 6’6 2022 Team Final Black
The Abington Friends forward is an intriguing prospect. Norman played a large portion of his minutes at the 4 or 5, where he offers weakside rim protection, had a decent inside game, and gets opportunistic buckets. But he profiles as a wing who can be equally as (if not more) effective defending on the perimeter at the next level. As he gains more confidence in his outside shot, DeBarrin is going to be a problem (or an opportunity) for programs in the region.
Javon Adams Javon Adams 6'9" | PF Olympus Prep | 2022 State NJ 6’9 2022 Team Final Red
The potential to be a primary creator isn’t hard to see in Javon and the light is still turning on. He regularly converts multiple dribble combinations into no-look passes – evidence that his usage is scalable as he adds strength. But against Team Final (Blue/EYBL), Adams showed that at worst he’s a linking player who can use his arsenal of passes to sustain advantages created by others. The upside plus sauce to his game will make him fun to watch going into his senior year.
