Continue ReadingThe Class of 2023 in South Florida is pretty deep. Therefore, I would like to look into more prospects that have drawn my attention. In most cases, I have received information on these players through different forms of media.
Let’s look into it..
Amani Drayton – McArthur
Amani Drayton made the most of his eight games played last season for McArthur. The 6-foot-5 forward averaged 7.6 points and 3.4 rebounds for the Mustangs. Against North Miami, Drayton scored a season-high 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Part of that effort included four on the offensive glass. Recently, Drayton placed eleventh in the high jump for his class in Florida. He clearly has a level of athleticism that few have in his age group. Keep in mind the Mustangs will need to replace 2021 Javen Bailey and 2022 Gabriel Kincy Gabriel Kincy 6'7" | CG West Oaks | 2022 State FL to Miramar. Drayton has a great opportunity to step in and fill the void. I could see him averaging well into double-figures given his talent level and opportunity.
Roland Majors Roland Majors 6'4" | SG Mater Academy | 2023 FL – Mater Academy
Majors should have an expanded role playing on one of the best teams in South Florida next fall. The Lions went 21-3 overall a year ago and reached the Class 6A championship. They also have one of the best players in the region in 2022 Jimel Lane Jimel Lane 6'7" | PF Palmetto | 2022 State FL . The 6-foot-3 forward averaged 3.5 points and 2.3 rebounds per game last season. However, Majors has shown ability to rebound at a high volume. Against Mater Lakes Academy, Majors scored nine points and grabbed six rebounds (four offensive). In addition, he recorded five or more boards in four other contests. Majors also showed glimpses of offensive potential last season. Against Homestead, he scored a season-high of eleven points.
Daniel Cortez Daniel Cortez 6'2" | CG Hialeah Gardens | 2023 FL – Hialeah Gardens
Cortez could be a strong backcourt prospect for Hialeah Gardens. The 6-foot-2 combo guard can slash his way into the paint and score with either hand. He also has the frame to handle the position at this point. Therefore, his strength allows him to make plays at multiple levels of the floor. The Gladiators finished strong last season; winning seven of their last eight games. Cortez could be a building block on the team’s winning momentum.
Frenelson Atlius Frenelson Atlius 6'1" | PG Dwyer | 2023 State FL – Dwyer
Similar to Majors in Miami-Dade, Atlius is on one of the better teams in Palm Beach County. The Falcons went 14-4 overall last season and made a deep run in the Class 7A state tournament. Moreover, Forest Hill is annually a contender in the region. On the court, Atlius averaged 3.6 points per game across 16 contests. Against Royal Palm Beach, he scored a season-high 16 points on 8-of-13 from the field. He should receive more minutes with the departures of 2021’s Donovan Draper Donovan Draper 6'6" | PF Forrest Hill | 2021 State FL and Jalen Jeter Jalen Jeter 5'9" | PG Forest Hill | 2021 State FL .
