They could score it when asked to but they also set others up generating assists and buckets for their team. Here are some of my favorite creators from the 15u division that I was able to watch:
Mack Gudell Next Level:
Gudell has a smooth shot and utilized his midrange game well all weekend. He has the special ability to hit tough shots. After a few makes in a row, the defense would zone in on Gudell and he would then find the open man. He had some beautiful dump offs this weekend and he has great vision all over the court. He has a nice fadeaway and was able to elevate and finish around the rim. Gudell is a very talented player and made his team better this weekend.
LB Hayes Enid Elie:
LB Hayes put on a show this weekend for Enid Elite. After rewatching all of the 15u games a second time through, he stood out to me on film. Hayes is a great shooter from all levels, but what really impressed me was his quickness and twitch. Not many kids at his age seem to float to the basket like he does. Hayes uses both hands well and has a nasty reverse lay-up too. His quick first step makes it impossible for defenses to judge which way he’s going to drive/ Hayes was the fastest player on the floor in every game and should have a real varsity impact at Mustang next year. He’s a willing passer that still averaged 19 points per game this weekend, that should turn some heads. Put Hayes on your radar.
Lesley Rose 6thman Oklahoma:
Rose is big for a guard and bullied his way into the lane. It was impressive to watch him not only score, but get two feet in the paint and find open shooters all over the floor. Rose has a natural feel for the game and is always under control. He set the tempo and set his team up for success. The way he got to the rim with ease was fun to watch. Rose never panicked and was just a smart player. He is an all-around stud.
Kabron Lewis Next Level Up:
Lewis has elite court vision. He finds passing lanes that weren’t there and he knows where his teammates are at all times. His shot from deep was extremely smooth and he’s a great scorer at all levels. Lewis just looked comfortable with the ball in his hands all weekend long. He’s a 6’1 guard and knows how to use his size. Lewis also loves making the flashy pass. He makes a lot of “wow” plays that have the crowd oo-ing and ah-ing. Lewis is an elite creator.
Nik Rhodes and Xon Williams OBC:
These two ran the show for OBC this weekend and it was impressive to watch. Rhodes has a silky smooth game and can heat up at any time. He’s a great shooter, but he’s also an underrated passer and was finding his teammates all weekend. He’s also a great ball handler and uses that to get to the rim. Williams is an absolute athlete for a point guard. He’s fast and unselfish and looks to get others involved. Williams played above the rim, showing his ability to finish through contact and works his spin off the glass well. This duo created so many opportunities for themselves, each other, and their team.
Jesse Ledbetter Buddy Buckets:
Ledbetter is absolutely surgical when he gets in the paint, and he does so often. He always plays 100% and doesn’t slow down. When the ball is in his hands, he’s on a downhill attack and has the strength to finish through contact. This ability to get in the lane allows him to make dump offs to his teammates and kick out to three point shooters. Ledbetter always seems to recognize the right read and make the right play. He’s an elite scorer, which allows him to also be an elite creator. He definitely boosted his stock this weekend.
