There are some notable coaching changes and although this might sound ridiculous that also means kids will be on the move. Here is a short list of 5A teams that look to start making some offseason strides towards a State Championship.
Olympus High School
Olympus returns a lot of contributing players and one of the most impact players this year will be the man in the middle who is Jack Wistrcill Jack Wistrcill 6'8" | PF Olympus | 2022 State UT who is as skilled as they come down on the blocks. What makes him tough is that he plays hard on both ends of the floor but he also can step out and shoot the ball. They will have a lot of young players in the mix that will help like Dutch Dowdell Dutch Dowdell 6'6" | SG Olympus | 2024 State #310 Nation UT but will get a lot of production from Will Rich who can do a little bit of everything out on the floor. I don’t know who is going to be more feared that the titans but they will be fun to watch this Spring.
Timpview High School
Timpview like always finds a way to compete and although they lost a lot of players they will return one of the best in the class of 2023 in James Rust James Rust 6'5" | CG Timpview | 2023 State UT who is proving he is a Division 1 prospect. James has that inside/outside game and is a big shot maker. Then you add a new coach that will likely make them an even more enticing landing spot.
Brighton High School
With one of their best player being a dual-sport athlete the Bangles play a tough 2-3 zone that seems to give most teams fits. Lander Barton Lander Barton 6'4" | PF Brighton | 2022 UT is a tough cover and he will score and rebound he is a legit double-double machine.
Lehi High School
Lehi is also another school that has received a transformation if sorts as they come off of a state championship but they have some young talent and they will have a few players make an impact like Grayson Brousseau Grayson Brousseau 6'6" | PF Lehi | 2024 State UT .
Alta High School
Alta will also have a new coach that will likely give Alta a new pulse and they will have some talent coming back with Jett Lundberg Jett Lundberg 6'2" | PG Alta | 2022 State UT and Jaxon Heiden Jaxon Heiden 6'9" | PF Alta | 2022 State UT who will both play a major role in their success. Look for them to make some noise early.
