This was my first year attending this tournament, and it really lived up to its expectations. Teams from all over Alabama, Florida, and Mississippi came to showcase their talents at this year’s Southern Spring Invitational.

Here are some top players that stood out in no particular order.

Travel Team: Mississippi United

Jaylan McNair, 6’7 PF, Florence High C/O 2022: McNair is a player I recommend college coaches to keep an eye on as we enter the live period in July. He brings a lot of strength and intensity to the post. McNair runs the floor from end to end at top speed. He fights for the rebound on both ends of the floor; McNair can also step outside the paint with his nice mid-range shot. Defensively McNair is a monster shot blocker; he makes it extremely hard for any player to get a shot off. This kid is as tough as they come, and I can’t wait to see his continued progress in July.

Travel Team: Alabama Fusion

LJ Hackman, 6’1 Guard, New Hope c/o 2023: Hackman plays with the Alabama Fusion this travel season, and this kid is a nonstop scorer.
