Continue ReadingThe 2021 Southern Jam Fest took place this past weekend in Hampton, Virginia. The venues being utilized for the event included the Boo Williams Sportsplex, the Hampton Roads Convention Center, and Peninsula Catholic High School. Presented by Hoop Group, this stellar AAU tournament brought about 250 teams, with 70 college coaches attending throughout the weekend. Teams were divided into seven divisions (17U Platinum, 17U Gold, 17U Silver, 16U Platinum, 16U Gold, 15U Platinum, and 15U Gold). After speaking with a variety of AAU, High School, and College coaches we developed a list of top performers from the Southern Jam Fest organized into three class levels. 17U (Class 2022) – ELITE “11”
Team Durant EYBL:
Jacob Beccles Jacob Beccles 6'3" | CG Constitution | 2022 State PA (6’3, combo guard) – Constitution High School
- A quick, elusive guard with a tremendous first step that creates off the dribble for opportunities to score
- He has a quality mid-range jumper, especially in transition
- Jacob is definitely becoming a player for colleges to stay interested in this summer
Khalif Crawley Khalif Crawley 6'7" | C Math, Civics & Sciences | 2022 State PA (6’8, power forward) – Math Civics and Sciences Charter School
- This skilled big man can finish extremely well at the rim
- He rebounds using his strong body on both ends of the court and has terrific shot-blocking ability
- Khalif gets out and runs the floor with athleticism while finishing with thunderous dunks
Team Final EYBL:
Jaheim Bethea Jaheim Bethea 6'0" | PG Math, Civics & Sciences | 2022 State PA (6’1, guard) – Math Civics and Sciences Charter School
- A fast, shifty guard who controls the offense from the tip to the end of the game
- He plays at an extremely high level while pushing the ball in transition or in the half-court set
- Jaheim looks to be a leader on and off the floor for his team
Team Final Red HGSL:
Issac Harris (6’3, shooting guard) – Northampton High School
- This deadly shooter has long-distance range and can fill up the stat sheet in bunches during a game
- He can facilitate to his teammates when the deep shot is covered by the defense
- Isaac has become a stock riser during this AAU season
Tyson Thomas Tyson Thomas 6'1" | PG Allentown Central Catholic | 2022 State PA (6’1, point guard) – Allentown Central Catholic High School
- The creativity of this guard causes distinct matchup problems for the opponent
- When he gets in transition his team almost always scores a basket
- Tyson puts forth the effort to get better every day on and off the court
Chase Scheuren (6’9, center) – Souderton High School
- An extremely talented big man that has excellent footwork in the post
- This above-average shot-blocker protects the rim on the defensive end
- Chase also has a nice, soft mid-range jump shot
Team Takeover:
Amaan Sandhu (7’0, center) – First Love Christian Academy
- A very tall, long, athletic giant of a player in the middle of the lane
- He does handle the ball well for a big guy and isn’t afraid to launch a three-ball on occasion
- Amaan continues to work on developing his game to play at the next level
Caveman Academy – Ruppert:
Joey Dudkowski (6’3, combo guard) – Pine Richland High School
- A combo guard that is developing into a complete player who will definitely play in college
- He creates opportunities for his teammates consistently throughout a contest
- Joey does the little things which pay off big for his team
Ben Myers Ben Myers 6'7" | PF Penn-Trafford | 2022 State PA (6’7, power forward) – Penn Trafford High School
- This skilled power forward using his body well in the post on offense
- Has a good jumper from the perimeter and can get to the rim
- Ben also protects the rim n the defensive end of the floor and rebounds well
Team Wildcat:
Eli Yofan Eli Yofan 6'3" | CG Fox Chapel | 2022 State PA (6’3, combo guard) – Fox Chapel High School
- A skilled guard that can play both positions with precision to help his team
- He definitely has the ability to score in a variety of ways during the game
- Eli portrays an extremely high basketball IQ
Mike Wells (6’4, wing forward) – New Castle High School
- An athletic and strong wing that can play multiple positions on the floor
- He can rebound the ball extremely well on both ends of the court
- Mike has the toughness to withstand physical games and is a proven winner
These young men performed at a high level all weekend and many college coaches continue to take interest in their development. As the summer AAU season begins look for more “big games” from these boys!
