It is challenging to stand out as a forward during AAU season.  Parents of forwards and centers quickly learn that young guards, especially young guards playing in front of or for college scouts don’t like to pass or include bigs.  Despite that massive hindrance, these players shone brightly over the weekend.

Somto Cyril (Hamilton Heights Christian Academy / EAB 17u - 2024)

Somto showed solid balance.  He played composed under the rim.  Didn’t rush his shots or force anything.  Strong legs.  Not fast, but certainly capable of keeping up with 17u play despite giving up two years of age to the vets.

Jarred Hall Jarred Hall 6'8" | SF Lebanon | 2023 State TN (Lebanon / EAB 16u - 2023)

Majestic, agile, fast.  In one single defensive play, one that is quite a microcosm of his weekend, Jarred Hall Jarred Hall 6'8" | SF Lebanon | 2023 State TN slickly slid his feet on the perimeter, thwarting a bubbling, hopeful penetrator.  Seconds later, as the ball dropped into the post, Hall again found himself as the on-ball defender.  He quickly sprung high and whacked the ball out-of-bounds.  The defensive versatility reflects the fantastic athleticism and physical gifts of Jarred Hall Jarred Hall 6'8" | SF Lebanon | 2023 State TN .
