Continue ReadingThe Shore Conference has had a strong run of success over the last three seasons with having one team finishing in the top 5. Ranney took home the Tournament of Champions crown in 2019, while Manasquan has lost only one game over the last two seasons. The conference is filled with a bunch of sleepers who have the potential to make an impact at the next level. Here are the top sleepers to watch in the Shore Conference this season.
Luke Farrell Luke Farrell 6'6" | SF St. Rose | 2022 State NJ , 6’6 SF/PF St. Rose 2022
Farrell is one of the more underrated prospects in the Shore Conference and has a chance to break out in his senior season. The 6’6 forward has a strong frame which he uses to draw contact around the basket. Farrell has a good handle and is comfortable playing on the perimeter. He is a strong rebounder and knows how to defend in the post. Farrell is a combo forward who should get his opportunity to shine for the Purple Roses this season.
Respect Tyleek Respect Tyleek 6'1" | CG Jackson Memorial | 2023 State NJ , CG Jackson Memorial 2023
Tyleek was unable to follow up his solid freshman campaign, but expect a big jump out of him in 2021-22. The Lakewood transfer is tough to contain off the bounce and knows how to score around the basket. Tyleek is an underrated passer and is not afraid of the pressure. His long arms allow for him to get deflections on the defensive end and has the potential to defend both guard spots. Tyleek’s ability to make an impact on both ends of the floor makes him an intriguing prospect to watch for the Jaguars this season.
Gio Panzini Gio Panzini 6'5" | SF St. Rose | 2024 State NJ , 6’4 SF Red Bank Catholic 2024
The Caseys had a strong 2021season and they are looking to build off of it with Panzini getting more experience. The 6’4 wing attacks the basket hard and is unafraid of contact. Panzini is more than just a slasher as he has a good release on his jumper and can knock down triples in bunches. He is a good shot-blocker and is a strong rebounder. Panzini is flying under the radar now and is in store for a breakout sophomore season.
Luke Braaten Luke Braaten 6'7" | PF Brick Memorial | 2022 State NJ , 6’7 PF Brick Memorial 2022
Braaten’s junior season was cut short due to injury, which did not allow for him to fully burst onto the scene. The 6’7 forward runs the floor hard and knows how to get position down low. Braaten has a nice touch around the basket and has some of the best hands in the Shore Conference. He is tough to keep off the glass on both ends of the floor and is one of the top post defenders in the Shore. Braaten is one of the more underrated prospects in the Shore Conference and should fully get a chance to breakout soon.
Will Surdez Will Surdez 6'3" | CG Colts Neck | 2023 State NJ , 6’3 CG Colts Neck 2023
Surdez has quietly put together a good varsity career over his first two seasons and should expand upon it in year 3. The 6’3 guard is at his best attacking the basket as he is a good finisher and does not mind contact. Surdez can also knock down jumpers from distance and is capable of running the offense in a pinch. He is a good rebounder for a guard and moves his feet well on the defensive end. Surdez is ready for a big junior season as the Cougars look to have a bounce back 2021-22 season.
