Caleb Laurich Caleb Laurich 6'7" | C Copley | 2022 State OH , 6’7 C Copley 2022 TNBA -Ohio: Laurich played with a ton of effort at 8:00 A.M. on a Sunday against The Family EYBL. Laurich probably ended the game with around 20 points and 15 rebounds. I loved seeing his motor against bigs that were taller than him in the paint. Keeping Laurich off the glass was difficult for an EYBL team that had plenty of size. Laurich is proving himself as a scholarship worthy big man with his play this spring.
Mason Weisbrodt Mason Weisbrodt 6'8" | C Batavia | 2022 State OH , 6’7 PF Batavia 2022 Shining Star -Price: Weisbrodt was a name I had heard some good things about but never seen previously. He pops in warmups with his fluidity and athleticism. Weisbrodt was adjusting to the speed of the game, going against Meanstreets EYBL. While Weisbrodt struggled with the speed of the game against a handful of high major athletes, he competed and showed intriguing flashes. Weisbordt seems like a late bloomer in this 2022 class and could be due for a huge senior season.
Louie Semona, 6’7 PF Cincinnati St Xavier 2022 Midwest Basketball Club Gold: Semona played really well in my first viewing of him in the OHSAA playoffs against Huber Heights Wayne. Semona has a smooth stroke at 6’7 from the perimeter and I like his body. Semona can put the ball on the floor and make passing reads as well. Semona seems to be flying under the radar but he’ll be making a splash in our next update of the rankings.
Noah Rich Noah Rich 6'5" | SF Franklin | 2022 State OH , 6’5 SF Franklin 2022 Midwest Basketball Club Gold: Rich is another player that I had previously never seen in person before this weekend. Rich intrigued me with his shooting ability at his size. Rich can run off screens and shoot off movement. I thought Rich struggled a bit moving his feet on the perimeter defensively, that’s probably the one area I’d like to see him improve in. Rich looked like a wing shooting specialist division II recruit, and will debut in our rankings during our next update.
Landon Newland Landon Newland 6'3" | SF Ridgemont | 2022 State OH , 6’3 SF Ridgemont 2022 Ohio Buckets Lash: Newland is a small school sleeper I’ve discussed a little bit before, as the soon to be senior wing just knows how to put the ball in the bucket. Newland shoots the ball at a high level and takes high percentage shots often. A poor athlete, Newland won’t be beating people off the bounce very often with quickness. Newland might be a guy most people don’t know about, but he averaged over 20 PPG as a Junior.
Cameron Johnson, 6’2 SG Gahanna 2022 Mid Ohio Pumas -Battle: Johnson is somebody who was a role player for a very successful Gahanna team this past season. Playing next to scholarship talents, Johnson didn’t get a chance to really show off his offensive skill very often. I liked seeing him play defense and stick to his role on the floor. For the Mid Ohio Pumas -Battle, you see more of Johnson’s self creation ability and offensive skill. Johnson is a solid athlete who can knock down open shots from the outside. I thought Johnson played well in transition, converting easy layups. Johnson is somebody who helps your team win and should be getting a lot of interest from local division III programs.
