Derrick James Derrick James 5'9" | PG Canal Winchester | 2022 State OH , 5’10 PG Canal Winchester 2022 Nova Village-Reese: James looks much improved from the one game I caught of him during the high school season. James is playing with more confidence on the offensive end, shooting the ball better and proving it against top competition. James made a believer out of me with his play this weekend, showing that he’s a D2 level point guard, and earning his first offer from Concord in the process. Love seeing a kid put in the work necessary to get better and embrace the moment that he had this weekend. I expect him to continue this impressive play for a Nova squad that put some fear into EYBL squads this weekend.
Javan Simmons Javan Simmons 6'7" | C Gahanna | 2022 State OH , 6’6 C Gahanna 2022 Nova Village-Reese: Javan Simmons Javan Simmons 6'7" | C Gahanna | 2022 State OH doesn’t care if he’s giving up 2-5 inches on an opposing big man, he’s gonna run right through him and bully him for the entire game. Simmons uses his strength better than just about any big I watch, playing through contact and getting through taller defenders. A super productive weekend for Simmons, against high major level bigs in multiple games. I don’t care that he’s a 6’6 C, he gets it done Vs guys who are projected to play high major basketball. Simmons is one of my favorite prospects to watch in the 2022 class in Ohio.
Amarion Dickerson Amarion Dickerson 6'6" | SF Richmond Heights | 2021 State OH 6’6 SF ISA 2022 C2K Elite: Dickerson has long been known as one of the best athletes in the state of Ohio, but he’s been productive for C2K this summer and continues to help improve his stock. Dickerson takes a ton of charges on the defensive end and has the length to produce steals and blocks as well. Offensively, Dickerson is a mixed bag, very inconsistent from the perimeter but can produce in transition. For a team that wants to pressure and run and gun, Dickerson would be a name to consider for low major programs.
Jagger Landers Jagger Landers 6'7" | PF Antwerp | 2022 State OH , 6’7 PF Antwerp 2022 Indy Heat Red: Landers is a major sleeper in Ohio’s 2022 class, playing for a D4 school right on the Indiana border. Landers proved himself this weekend though against the big boys, knocking down shots from all over the floor. Landers has a nice body and high basketball IQ, moving the ball well within the offense. Landers already holds an offer from Findlay, but I wouldn’t be stunned if low majors started throwing their name in the picture for Landers.
Sean Craig Sean Craig 6'6" | PF Sylvania Northview | 2022 State OH , 6’7 PF Sylvania Northview 2022 Bates Fundamentals Red: Craig really impressed me with his outside shooting ability for Bates Fundamentals Red. Craig wasn’t shy about letting it fly from long distance and really played well off the short roll in pick and roll opportunities. Craig had a super productive season for Northview, getting first team all state honors. It seems like he’s flown under the radar in the 2022 class in Ohio but I really like Craig at the Division II level.
Dasan Doucet Dasan Doucet 6'4" | SF Fairmont | 2022 State OH , 6’5 SF Fairmont 2022 Hopson Elite-Awls: I like the size of Doucet from the wing position at 6’5. Doucet shot the ball well from the outside and used his height against smaller defenders when driving to the basket. Doucet finished around the basket with both hands and scored at an efficient clip. Based on his play this weekend, I think Doucet is a scholarship prospect and should be on Division II and NAIA radars.
