Lukas Balling Lukas Balling 6'5" | PF Marquette Catholic | 2023 State IN – IABC Johnson – 6’6 2023 PF: Balling is a strong power forward that has some skill. Runs the floor well and used his strong frame to drive to the basket pretty well. Solid handles for a big and has some solid quickness as well to his game. He is also a true post defender that has some real good shot blocking ability. Overall, Balling is a tough 4 that can be developed into a solid forward at the D3 level potentially.
Jesse Lazzarino – IABC Johnson – 6’6 2023 PF: Balling is a long and lanky power forward. Even though he is not the strongest power forward he does use his height well with rebounding on both ends. Has a little smoothness to him and has a real smooth looking turnaround jumper. Did not see much of a jumper off the catch so curious to see if he has that in his game. Strength still looks like an area of improvement but Lazzarino had a solid showing in the game I watched of his.
Brady Yoder – IABC Johnson – 5’9 2023 PG: Yoder is a shorter lead guard with a strong build. He is a true lead guard but he can knock down shots from 15ft and out pretty consistently. Dose not let his size get the best of him on the defensive end as he showed some real aggressiveness against the bigger guards he was on. Tough player that can contribute at all spots on the court.
Bryce Petty Bryce Petty 6'1" | PG Park Tudor | 2023 State IN – EG10 2023 White – 6’1 2023 PG: Petty is a quick lead guard that has looked to have grown and slimmed out since the last time I saw him. He was very active on the floor and showed off his creativeness with the ball. Had a 3 off the catch and started to show his range a little. Was just a little too wild on the offense and was making some head scratching passes at times. Overall, Petty’s growth I think is going to open up his game a little more and once he starts making those jumpers consistently I think he is really going to take off.
Sam Orme Sam Orme 6'9" | SF Carmel | 2023 State #196 Nation IN – Grand Park Premier 2023 – 6’8 2023 SF/PF: Orme is a tall wing/power forward with some skill. Was really trying to get his outside game going but shots really weren’t falling here, but he does look to have a good, quick release stroke that pairs well with his length. Does not look to be much of a post player at this time as he is a true stretch 4 right now. Can guard both the wing and post. Right now he is needed to be that stretch 4 but should stick primarily to the wing at the next level.
Jaylen Mullen Jaylen Mullen 6'0" | PG North Daviess | 2023 State IN – Grand Park Premier 2023 – 5’11 2023 PG: Mullen is a shorter yet very quick lead guard. Pretty scrappy and made some nice decisions with the ball in his hands. Not really an “elite” scorer but can produce a jumper here and there. Love the toughness and confidence he brings to the game as well. Solid showing from Mullen and is looking like he could really breakout here soon.
Luke Almodovar Luke Almodovar 6'2" | SG Noblesville | 2023 State IN – Grand Park Premier 2023 – 6’2 2023 SG: Almodovar is a taller shooting guard who played very aggressive here. Had a baseline dunk and showed off his range hitting a few outside jumpers off the catch. Has a high motor on both ends and is not afraid to get in there and make plays. The last time I saw him I thought he was being a little too passive but this time I thought he really showed out. Almodovar’s game has progressed nicely.
Kaden Oliver Kaden Oliver 6'2" | PG Silver Creek | 2023 State IN – Grand Park Premier 2023 – 6’2 2023 PG: Oliver is a taller lead guard that is so quick and dynamic. Really has started to hit that growth spurt and that has seemed to really open up his game. He was driving to the rim quickly and finished at the rim well for the most part. Still some questions about his outside jumper as that still seems to be a work in progress. Will never have to doubt Oliver’s toughness that he brings, however.
Joey Hart Joey Hart 6'5" | SG Linton-Stockton | 2023 State #214 Nation IN – Grand Park Premier 2023 – 6’3 2023 SG: Hart is a taller shooting guard with so much skill and basketball IQ. He was great off the ball here and was hitting smooth outside jumpers from all over. Just has great rhythm to his game and knows when to attack and when to pull-up for a 3. Don’t know if he is going to grow anymore but if he does that could be pretty scary. Really good showing here from Hart and seems to be getting better and better.
Mason Jones Mason Jones 6'7" | PF Valparaiso | 2023 State IN – Indiana Game Premier 2022 – 6’7 2023 PF: Jones is a big, athletic power forward that looked so good this weekend. He was playing up but you really couldn’t tell he was younger unless you looked at the roster sheet. He was playing hard every play and was really hammering it in the inside. Showed some excellent rebounding ability on both ends plus his ball handing skills were really impressive for a guy his size. Still wasn’t much of a perimeter game shown so if he adds that he is going to be even more scary than what he is. Jones was probably the player I was most impressed with this weekend.
