Tayshawn Comer Tayshawn Comer 6'0" | PG Cathedral | 2022 State #226 Nation IN – Indy Heat 2022 Black – 6’0 2022 PG: Comer is a shorter lead guard that is so balanced. In the game I watched he was getting to the basket with ease and finishing through hard contact. His jumper is still a work in progress but he knocked down a couple from 15ft and out. His court vision was at a high level and once he pushed the tempo he was able to make the right plays he wanted to make. Just wanted to see a little bit more killer instinct from him. Game seems to keep getting better and better, however.
Fletcher Loyer Fletcher Loyer 6'4" | SG Homestead | 2022 State #108 Nation IN – Indy Heat 2022 Black – 6’4 2022 SG: I don’t think there was a single player that looked as good as Loyer did Friday night in the game I watched. He was a walking bucket and was scoring at every level on the offense. His shot fake was on point and no defender seemed to have any answer from him on the offense. The Purdue product looked almost perfect here.
Ryan Conwell Ryan Conwell 6'2" | SG Pike | 2022 State #155 Nation IN – EG10 2022 – 6’2 2022 SG: Conwell is a bigger shooting guard that can just be so smooth to the rim at times. One thing I noticed in the game I saw from him is that he can actually be a solid iso player in certain situations. He was paying with such good pace and was knocking down that pull-up 15fter that he can make. Conwell is a smart player that knows how to play on and off the ball and how to utilize his big frame.
Jordan Turner Jordan Turner 6'3" | PG Cardinal Ritter | 2022 State IN – EG10 2022 – 6’3 2022 SG: This was the first time I had actually seen Turner play and I will say he was one of the players I was most impressed with. He is a taller shooting guard with some combo guard ability. Incredibly high vertical and is real shifty and creative. Real capable pull-up jumper and gets to the rim so easy and showed that with a couple of And1s. Love his energy and never saw him take any plays off. Not the strongest right now but once he adds that weight he will be able to take his game to that next level.
Caedmon Bontrager Caedmon Bontrager 6'8" | PF Leo | 2022 State IN – Team Teague 2022 – 6’8 2022 PF: Bontrager is a post defender with great size and strength. Even though he mostly played inside here in the game I watched, he has shown in the past that he can step out and knock down the outside jumper. He is a guy that is gonna battle on both ends and make it tough for anybody to get a bucket on him in the paint. He played like a guy that could potentially succeed at the low major 1 schools with the potential of getting up to that mid-major level. One thing is for sure is that Bontrager is a powerhouse and can go up against any big in any game.
Leland Walker Leland Walker 5'11" | PG North Central | 2022 VA – Team Teague 2022 – 5’11 2022 PG: He may be shorter, but Walker is one of the most talented lead guards, and overall players, I watched this weekend. So fast and shifty and took any player one on one off the dribble and scored almost every time at the rim. Going north and south you might as well forget it because no player is going to keep up with him if he has the ball in transition. Did not really see much of his jumper because he simply did not need to use it this game vs C2K. Game just comes easy to Walker and is continuing to impress more and more. Continues to be the most dynamic guard in the 2022 class.
Charlie Williams Charlie Williams 6'10" | PF Carmel | 2022 State #220 Nation IN – Team Teague 2022 – 6’10 2022 PF: Williams, again, showed just how skilled the long power forward is in the game I watched vs C2K. He is a true stretch 4 and was stepping up and knocking down 3s off the catch left and right it seemed. Was making some real sharp passes and I think he is a little underrated as a passer. Williams is a threat because he can beat you with his footwork in the paint and can knock down the smooth jumper 15ft and out. I think those Power 5 conferences are going to start making plays at Williams sooner rather than later.
Drew Adzia Drew Adzia 5'9" | PG Crown Point | 2022 State IN – Indiana Game Premier 2022 – 5’11 2022 PG: Adizia is a shorter, true lead guard that runs the offense so well. Was making plays at the rim and was so good about dishing it off to his teammates if he did not have a good look at the rim. It was another game where he didn’t make hardly or any real crucial mistakes with he ball. His growth too I think is going to open up his game even more with scoring. Just a real consistent player each game I have seen from him.
Breece Walls Breece Walls 6'0" | PG Valparaiso | 2022 State IN – Indiana Game Premier 2022 – 6’0 2022 PG: Walls is a shorter lead guard with a high basketball IQ. Right off the bat, I was impressed with just how smart of a defender he was because he made a transition stop where he took advantage of the player with not so good ball handles and stripped the ball from him as he was going toward the basket. He was creative on the offense and was playing a little more off the ball than he normally does. It will be interesting to see if playing more off the ball will become more of a thing but he also continued to show that he can be a real reliable option to handle the ball and not make carless turnovers.
Kaden Manna Kaden Manna 6'6" | PF Marquette Catholic | 2022 State IN – Indiana Game Premier 2022 – 6’6 2022 SF: Manna is a big forward that is strong and plays with a solid amount of power. Likes to battle in the post where he can use his size and strength against contact. 3 point shot is not quiet there yet but he was not afraid to try and knock some down. Was one of the better rebounders I had seen and shot blockers as well. Still is a work in progress but he had a very solid showing in the game I saw from him.
Aidan Lambert Aidan Lambert 6'3" | SG Snider | 2022 State IN – Summit City 2022 – 6’2 2022 PG: Lambert is a shorter but quick lead guard. He had kind of an up and down showing at Run-N-Slam but luckily in the game I watched he was making plays left and right. He showed his shiftiness in the lane and once he got in transition he was almost impossible to stop just because of how fast he was playing. He is not really the type of player that is going to score a ton of points but can create in the lane and find his teammates well. Think long term he is going to be that quick point guard that is going to bring some craftiness at the D3, JUCO, NAIA level.
Grant Brown Grant Brown 6'4" | SF Snider | 2022 State IN – Summit City 2022 – 6’4 2022 SG/SF: Brown is a bigger guard/forward that played some of the best basketball we have seen from him. He was playing super aggressive and showed how strong he was on both ends. Looked good shooting the 3 off the catch and was playing tough going after rebounds. Really liked what I saw on defense from him as well as he was staying in front of his man and turning them. Brown is a player that has been slightly overlooked but here he showed just how balanced his game can be.
Dawson Perkins – Summit City 2022 – 6’8 2022 PF: Perkins is long and lanky power forward with athleticism. High amount of energy and runs the floor hard. Showed some solid rebounding ability and was cleaning up the glass on both ends. Plays with a physical playing style but is just a tad too wild on the offense. Once he learns to catch the ball and compose himself and then make a move he will then be able to take his game up a notch. That energy and aggressiveness he has, however, can be unmatched at times.
