Jack Medalie Jack Medalie 6'6" | SG Franklin | 2023 State TN Ranked #29 in TN
2023, SG, 6-foot-5, Louisville Magic / AOT
News: Jack “will be attending Franklin High School in the fall.” He played last year with a great Brentwood team and now runs with Louisville Magic 16u, and his brother debuts with the brand new Team Mookie 15u. The remainder of the AAU season Jack will play with AOT out of Atlanta. He is excited to join.
Andrew’s Angle: Solid outside shooter. Medalie needed to and is improving both his driving and authority around the rim. Adding grit can take time with young players that are significantly taller than their peers. Jack was not meek at all, but college basketball is a man’s game and he is certainly veering more sharply towards that destination. AOT will have some freak athletes and it will be interesting to see if they get Jack minutes. Not that he can’t compete, but often Atlanta AAU programs bring in players from Tennessee and then neglect to play them. Franklin High is replacing, perhaps, their best high school class of the century. Expectations are high with FHS, much like they were with Brentwood. The system is different and the fans are fun and frenetic. It could be a wonderful change for the Medalie brothers.
Chip Brunt Chip Brunt 6'4" | PG Whitehaven | 2023 GA (Whitehaven) Ranked #20 in TN
2022, SG, 6-foot-5, EAB 17u
Latest Looks: Jacksonville University’s Dolphins offered Chip, it is his first D1 offer. There will be more. Belmont Assistant Coach Tyler Holloway reached out to AAU Director Michael Couey. UT Martin expressed interest.
Andrew’s Angle: Unsurprising that Chip is now a D1 recruit formally. He was always going to be a D1 player with his size, handle, and shooting touch. I would still like him to add more muscle. It will come. It is better to enter college strong and powerful and then improve with their rigorous training staffs than to have to develop the strength needed to play when you arrive. Chip doesn’t look like a guy that will have to redshirt to put on weight, but it has happened before with players of his frame. The skill is wonderful and undeniable.
Tony Sapp Tony Sapp 6'6" | SF South-Doyle | 2021 State TN (South-Doyle) Ranked #54 in TN
2021, SF/PF, 6-foot-6, Team Passion 17u
News: Tony committed to Cleveland State Community College.
Andrew’s Angle: More wing than big now, though he can rebound and defend the college “4” if asked. Sapp has some handle and is continuing to improve his wing attacking skills. Division II floor. I think he can vault from this program to a “bigger” school in two years. Sapp has some nice athleticism and high character.
Chandler Jackson Chandler Jackson 6'5" | CG Christian Brothers | 2022 State #87 Nation TN (Christian Brothers) Ranked #2 in TN
2022, SG, 6-foot-5
News: Texas offered. The Longhorns join a long list.
Andrew’s Angle: Chandler will be able to choose from about half of the basketball programs in the country and most of the other half will just consider themselves too small or too far to even offer. The only question with his recruitment is whether he will get an offer from Kentucky, Duke, UNC, etc. And if he does, does he even want that? Chandler is just like he projected to be as a freshman…great.
