The shifty 6-foot, 175-pound guard from Canby sadly won’t get the opportunity to experience the post-season but he’s still excited about the games ahead. Arredondo is hoping to sort out his college future after play is done, something he spent this past year training and getting set for.
Like most, when the pandemic hit Arredondo was initially stuck. But since his mother is a pastor at a local church, he was able to spend some time training there and a few months later, was able to work out with Oregon Basketball Club. “Once things loosened up I was able to play with some club teams and still train,” Arredondo said. “Defense has always been not my strong suit so that was something I really focused on in the off-season.”
A solid shooter and scorer, Arredondo has long been one of the more under-the-radar guys in the power-packed Three Rivers League. Thankfully some schools in the Portland area have got him on their radar and he noted that George Fox had been in contact and the latest school involved is Linfield.
“I want to stay more local – I’m a big family guy and all my family is from Oregon so I don’t want to go far,” Arredondo said. “I want a place that has a good accounting program and that’s the most important thing for me and I want to love the campus and the coaches.”
Arredondo hopes to make a decision on his future after the season is over. It’s been a long year since last March so there’s no doubt he’s happy the time is now. “I’m really excited that it’s happening,” Arredondo said. “This is supposed to be a good year for us so I’m looking forward to it.”
Arredondo currently ranks as the #27 ranked player in the latest PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2021 rankings.
