Two weekends back the Prep Hoops Circuit was in six different locations. Here are the names honored as the best of the best from Session 8.
Matas Buzelis of Full Package (IL). Matas is a 6-foot-8, versatile, top 50 level national prospect in the 2023 class. Buzelis is from Illinois but plays at Brewster Academy in New Hampshire. In the Midwest Showdown Buzelis led his team to wins over Wisconsin PGC, Looney Power 5, Team Haliburton, and World Hoops Elite, and none of the games were close. Matas was equally an impact guy defensively as he was offensively. Special all around talent.

Maximus Nelson of Wisconsin PGC (IL). Playground Basketball Club went 4-0 in the Midwest Showdown in Appleton, Wisconsin and it was a balanced performance throughout the weekend. The player that stepped up the most in each game was Nelson, a versatile double-double threat that scored at the rim, on the move, and he rebounded at a high level. Nelson has offers from Milwaukee, Toledo, and Southern Illinois-Edwardsville.
Trey Pettigrew of Mac Irvin Fire (IL). Six-foot-3 combo guard Trey Pettigrew is one of the fastest rising prospects in the nation at the moment. A top 50 area level national talent with offers from Illinois, Georgia, Missouri, and others, Pettigrew plays for the Mac Irvin Fire EYBL squad and led them to three wins in Indiana. Trey averaged 21 points and five assists over the four Prep Hoops Circuit games he played.
Leland Walker Leland Walker 5'11" | PG North Central | 2022 State #145 Nation IN of Team Teague (IN). One of the most successful teams on the PH Circuit this year has been Team Teague. Weekend after weekend they are facing top competition from around the Midwest and regularly coming out on top. The leader? High major offered six-foot combo guard Leland Walker Leland Walker 5'11" | PG North Central | 2022 State #145 Nation IN . Few lead guards play with the pace that Walker does consistently which is why the Big East is all over him as a future prospect.
