MVP: Anthony Allen Anthony Allen 6'5" | SF Broken Arrow | 2022 State OK | Tulsa Hawks |
6’4″ PF | Broken Arrow ’22 |
Allen was not available for the Hawks on Saturday morning, but winning a state title in the high jump was a worthy excuse.
Upon his return, Allen was dominant defensively and steadying offensively, indicative in his stat-line as he averaged a double-double. Perhaps his best match came in a game against BTR in which Allen neared a triple-double in points (14), rebounds (11) and blocks (8).
In a game against Team Buddy Buckets Bond, there was hardly a soul who could reliably stop him on his path to the rim as he hosted his personal jamboree at Solid Rock.
Kaden Vande Kaden Vande 6'7" | SG Tuttle | 2022 OK | Oklahoma Wolfpack |
6’6″ W | Tuttle ’22 |
Vande, an exceptional athlete among his peers, showed off some of his diverse utility in numerous games over the weekend.
He opened a game against Team Buddy Buckets with a drive and slam in the half court. Later in the same match, Vande was money from triple range out-of-the-catch — in my opinion, the bread and butter his skill-set.
There is no denying the degree of Vande’s status as a knock-down shooter will be directly proportionate to his recruiting ceiling come decision time, but his abilities to defend, slash and even pass the ball well will put premiums on his stock, as well.
Vance Raney Vance Raney 6'2" | PG Cashion | 2022 State OK | Oklahoma Eagles Elite |
6’0″ SG | Cashion ’22 |
Once Raney gets going, he’s one of the last players you want to meet on the perimeter.
On the Eagles’ path to the championship game, Rainy was excellent scoring and facilitating the ball. He’s especially crafty in transition, often putting the ball in the hoop on acrobatic finishes or finishes from tricky angles.
As a shooter, Raney’s swift release out-of-the-handle allows him liberty to convert on shots against heavy contest.
When it comes to playmaking, Raney enjoys finding his forwards on far-side lobs, especially, but is content distributing the ball in simple, heads-up down-court situations.
Parker Friedrichsen Parker Friedrichsen 6'4" | SG Bixby | 2023 State #165 Nation OK | Tulsa Hawks |
6’4″ SG | Bixby ’23 |
If you’re keeping tabs on Friedrichsen, you may know he’s a touted D-I prospect. You only had to watch his seven-3-pointer Saturday performance against Swarm to confirm his recruiting status for yourself.
The junior playing up was the best shooter in the game in each contest he participated. Beyond his sharpshooting skills, however, Friedrichsen is a plenty competent scorer at the rack.
On multiple occasions, Friedrichsen showcased his plethora of finishing skills, including his strength, manipulation of his body, ability to finish at difficult angles and his sneaky athleticism.
Zach Hidalgo Zach Hidalgo 6'8" | C Hooker | 2022 State OK | Oklahoma Eagles Elite |
6’7″ C | Hooker ’22 |
Hidalgo was perhaps the premier stock-riser of the weekend as his impressive stature, iQ and skill on both ends of the floor turned heads in each game.
Hidalgo can get a classic, back-to-the-rim bucket, even with strong or cerebral posts guarding him. He also possesses unexpected bounce, as he displayed finishing above the rim on multiple occasions last weekend — which also gave the Eagles a little boost in energy each time.
Where Hidalgo proved he’s a downright playmaker, however, was on the defensive end of the court. The same elevation power that allowed him to slam the ball on one end allowed him to deny and deflect shots on the opposite end, providing the eagles a major advantage as opposing teams had difficulties scoring in the interior.
Arzhonte Dallas Arzhonte Dallas 5'11" | PG Lawton MacArthur | 2022 State OK | Oklahoma Chaos |
5’11″ PG | Lawton MacArthur ’22 |
Dallas was a lucky bounce away from being the spark-plug in what would have been the most impressive comeback win of the summer — or maybe that we have seen.
Though his team, Oklahoma Chaos, struggled for most of the quarterfinal game against Eagles, Dallas pulled through late to put his team back in contention, including a stellar left-handled layup through contact with 11 seconds to go to bring his team back within one point of the game.
Though Chaos didn’t pull through, it was Dallas who got his team there.
