Here is a look at some of those up and coming post players. It will be fun to watch these young post players continue to develop.
Colby Lancaster Colby Lancaster 6'6" | PF Fulton | 2023 State MO 6’6″ COMO-TNT 16U: A big-bodied power forward from Fulton with a good combination of physical strength and athletic ability makes him hard to deal with around the basket. He is very light on his feet with a quick second and third jump on the boards. He can score in the post and he will rise up and throw down dunks in traffic.
Kanyon Hummel Kanyon Hummel 6'9" | PF Rock Bridge | 2023 State MO 6’9″ Missouri Elite 16U: A rapidly improving post from Rock Bridge who is capable of posting a double-double every time he steps on the floor. He has a solid body and has good mobility to go along with it. He has good passing skills to deliver dimes and he also catches the ball well and will finish with a nice touch off the glass. His motor is also good for a big kid, which means he will produce.
Langden Kitchen Langden Kitchen 6'6" | PF Westran | 2023 State MO 6’7″ Mid Mo Elite 16U: A big, physical post player from Westran who I enjoyed watching work inside. Whenever he wanted to assert himself in the post, he moved people around like they were furniture. He’s an old-school back to the basket player who establishes his turf, catches the ball and looks to score. It’s quite effective.
Ethan Wiley Ethan Wiley 6'5" | PF Battle | 2023 State MO 6’5″ Missouri Elite 16U: A big-bodied power forward from Battle who was one of the more impressive rebounders that I watched during the weekend. His physical strength helps in his pursuit for rebounds, but he also has a strong desire to collect every board that he can possibly get his hands on. He establishes good position inside and he will also get out of his area.
Cameron McKenzie 6’9″ Gateway-Knights 16U: A long and athletic young big from Vashon who is continuing his positive development. He has good length and he moves well, when enables him to excel on the defensive end. He does a good job blocking and altering shots inside with his size. He was also able to throw down a couple of nice dunks after receiving passes off dribble penetration in the games I watched.
