Prep Hoops was able to watch the team from the Keystone State play a few times this weekend in the #PHPassionRegionClassic.
Avant Sweeney – York Suburban HS
Sweeney 6’2 guard-wing really brings good intensity to the floor. Sweeney a tough minded young man was able to slash to the rack and finish on contact this weekend. Sweeney brings a competitive edge to the floor and a will to win. Sweeney always seemed to be in attack mode looking to get to the cup.
Nolan Gilbert Nolan Gilbert 6'4" | PF Cumberland Valley | 2023 State PA – Cumberland Valley HS (Mechanicsburg)
Gilbert a left-handed forward has the ability to play inside-out on the floor. Gilbert won’t overwhelm you with athleticism but he does understand how to get to spots on the floor for his shot. Gilbert was able to average 8.9 ppg this past season for Cumberland Valley HS (14-5). Gilbert scored 20 points in a tough loss to the Auburn Raptors (AL).
Jacere Vega – William Penn HS (York) (pictured on front)
Vega a undersized combo guard was able to knockdown 4 three pointers in a win over the Tuscaloosa (AL) Onyx. Vega scored the ball in transition by leaking out at times for cheapies in transition. Vega played generally off the ball a lot this weekend. Jacere really seems to know how to play the game with a strong basketball IQ.
Miguel Pena – Hempfield HS (Landisville)
Pena 6’2 point guard plays the game with a great deal of confidence. Pena a primary ball-handler likes the ball in his hands to make plays for himself and others on the floor. Pena was able to connect on some three pointers while showing a nice mid-range game this weekend. Pena always seemed under-control while on the floor and played with a good demeanor. Pena scored 20 points in a win over the Tuscaloosa (AL) Onyx.
Timi Akisanya – Chapelgate Christian Academy (Marriottsville, MD)
Akisanya 6’6 post player has spent the past few years at the Maryland based school according to Central PA Elite Head Coach Jalen Archer. Akisanya really can finish well around the basket with his left-hand. Akisanya likes playing the game on contact and doesn’t mind throwing his frame around down in the paint.
The Central PA Elite finished the weekend at (2-2) at the Prep Hoops Passion Region Classic. Stay continued to Prep Hoops all season long for all the basketball coverage you want throughout the United States.
