I took in 20 games and here is a look at my craftiest playmakers.
2024 5-11 G Daniel MacGregor Daniel MacGregor 5'11" | PG Clearwater Calvary Christian | 2024 State FL – TUP Elite
Playing up in the 16U division, MacGregor pushed the cause offensively. He is a downhill attacker who is both physical and strong. The Calvary Christian guard had 13 points against East Coast United and was steady finishing inside. He grabs boards with toughness and adds a lot of energy to his side.
2022 6-8 F Matthew Webster Matthew Webster 6'8" | PF Bishop Mclaughlin | 2022 State FL – GameSpeed Elite Orange
Earning an offer from Florida A&M this week, Webster was active as can be at PassionSZNKickoff with some nice outings. The Bishop McLaughlin forward had 21 points in a wild double overtime loss to North Florida United. He shoots the mid-range well and can be elusive to finish inside. He is really coming into his own.
2023 6-4 G Tre lockett Tre lockett 6'4" | SG Carrollwood Day | 2023 State FL – GameSpeed Elite Orange
A truly efficient scorer, Lockett had 14 points in the lone game I saw of his. He came on the second half with his mid-range floater which is a nice positive to his game. Lockett has a nice frame to him and his shooting prowess is something that can hurt defenses very quickly. Look for Lockett to continue to develop his game.
2022 5-11 G Jasiah Taylor – Heart N’ Hustle Elite
Every time I see Taylor, he impressed. The 2022 Strawberry Crest guard found fire with his outside shot in a Friday night win over North Florida United, 53-51. Taylor led his side with 27 points and a slew of 3’s in the second half alone. The kid is a playmaker with speed and a high IQ.
2023 6-5 G Malachi Hampton Malachi Hampton 6'4" | SF Wekiva | 2023 State FL – Florida Suns Black
In an early tournament win over Team Speights, Hampton played a key role for Florida Suns Black with 13 points. He is a “taller than they appear” type player and he certainly can handle the rock and score from deep or inside the circle. The Wekiva guard is super athletic and as he fills out his body, he will be even more dangerous on the attack.
2022 6-2 G Alex McCray – GameSpeed Elite Black
For GameSpeed Elite Black, McCray played with an active cause and a lot of grit. He can get inside with his mix of speed and burst. Scoring 19 points in the game I saw him in, The Rock guard impressed as you always knew he was out on the floor.
2022 6-5 G Eric Ahlers – Dream Nation
A bigger bodied guard, Ahlers uses his smart shooting touch and awareness on both ends of the floor to succeed. He dropped a team-best 20 points in a win over the Filling the Lane. The St. Pete Northeast guard is a rock solid leader and scorer.
