The Horry Select squad coached by Alvin Green were playing up in the 16U bracket. Horry Select was without the services of a few players this past weekend looked like two different teams at times. Horry Select dropped dropped both games on the opening day while coming back and winning both on Day 2. Horry Select defeated Tuscaloosa (AL) Onyx and NOVA UNFD on Sunday Mother’s Day.
Preston Smith (2023) – Socastee HS
Smith plays Linebacker for the Braves on Friday nights in the fall. Smith a left-handed freight train in the lane spent time knocking bodies around down in the paint. Smith plays the game extremely aggressive and really looked to bullied defenders around the basket. Smith was relentless on the boards and didn’t mind spending time on the floor grabbing loose balls. Smith scored 22 points in a win on Sunday in win over NOVA UNFD. Smith plays bigger than his size down in the paint.
Jasaan Faulkner Jasaan Faulkner 5'10" | PG St James | 2024 SC (2024) – St James HS (Murrells Inlet) (pictured on front)
Faulkner played a bit more aggressive on the offensive end of the floor this weekend. Faulkner finished with 10 points in the last game of the day on Sunday in a win over NOVA UNFD. Faulkner really looks like a old school guard at times with the use of the bounce pass. Faulkner made several heady plays today with his timely passing and defensive stops.
Moe Davis Moe Davis 6'2" | SG Carolina Forest | 2024 VA (2024) – Carolina Forest HS (Myrtle Beach)
Davis really does a good job finishing around the basket with his left-hand. Davis is very active on both ends of the floor. Davis can play inside-out from the basket and really manufactures a lot of his points on put-backs and effort. Davis scored 15 points in the last game of the day vs NOVA UNFD.
Landon Cloninger (2025) – North Myrtle Beach M.S.
Cloninger a Quarterback could be the future for the Chiefs football program. Cloninger just a 8th grader currently attends North Myrtle Beach M.S. Cloninger has a bit of hitch on his set shot but looks really good coming off the bounce or screens.
