Here are a handful of players who stood out on Day One (in alphabetical order):
Aadhi Ayyappan Aadhi Ayyappan 6'1" | SG Bartlesville | 2023 State OK , 6-foot guard, Tulsa Hawks Blue (pictured):
Incredibly fundamental and efficient, Ayyappan was great on Day One. He led the Tulsa club with his brilliant driving and playmaking. He knifes through traffic with a smooth ease, always under control but finding openings to shoot a high percentage. He can also bury the three, but he’s not a ball hog. He keeps his teammates well-supplied with quality dishes for open shots. Ayyappan is a crafty and athletic defender, intercepting passes and knocking balls away from dribblers.
Jaravis Moye, 6-foot-4 guard, Gateway Knights, Kirkwood HS:
A really interesting player, Moye does not seem 6-foot-4 when he’s flashing great ball handling in the open court. He slithers through the lane for scores from a variety of angles. He’s not a big guy, but he’s tough, taking the ball fearlessly into the trees and finishing at the rim. Moye can shoot, makes a lot of nice passes, and has a fiercely competitive spirit.
Devon Owens, 5-foot-8 guard, Go Hard Basketball St. Louis, Parkway West HS:
Owens was really impressive handling the ball and making plays for the club from St. Louis. The club had to elevate a bunch of 15Us for the weekend because of absences from the regular roster. Owens demonstrated some true leadership and showed himself a great teammate. He pushed the tempo at every opportunity, scoring in the lane and in transition. He finds openings and has a good floater. He scored on pull-up jumpers and from distance.
Collin Vick, 6-foot-1guard, MN Rise, Owatonna HS:
Vick was about as good a point guard as any in the field in Kansas City. He has a great handle and great vision. He makes great decisions of when to force the issue and when to throttle down. He can drive and score or dish, always under control. He’s equally impressive on the defensive end, making smart and instinctive plays that turn into points at the other end.
Dante Washington, 5-foot-11 guard, Victory Ministry, Webb City HS:
One of the most fun players to watch at KC, Washington plays with an infectiousness and a little orneriness. He’s lightning quick, has blow-by moves, and rips around the court at high speed. This guy can really sky, showing off his hops in a variety of ways. He knocked down three’s from really deep, and can pass too.
