Some prospects played their best basketball of the weekend on Sunday as they did what it took to win. Here are some of the top standouts from Championship Sunday at the NJ Jam Fest.
Jayden Lemond Jayden Lemond 6'3" | PG Blair Academy | 2023 State #183 Nation NJ , 6’4 PG PSA Cardinals 16U
Lemond did a little bit of everything in the 16U platinum final, showing why he was the best player on the floor. The 6’4 guard has great court vision and is always looking to get his teammates involved. Lemond has a tight handle and can hurt defenses in a variety of ways once he gets into the lane. He is an intelligent defender as he knows how to beat his defender to the spot and get deflections for steals. Lemond is a big-time talent who should see his stock continue to rise over the next couple of months.
Al-Fatir Connor Al-Fatir Connor 6'0" | PG Elizabeth | 2021 State NJ , 6’0 PG Jersey Force Select 17U
Connor was making plays all day long as he was a key part to Jersey Force Select upsetting Team Rio University in the 17U platinum final. The 6’0 guard was beating his man off the bounce consistently and made several tough layups around the basket. Connor did more than just score as he made good passes to open shooters on the perimeter when he got into the lane. He plays with quick hands on defense and slides his feet really well. Connor is a play-making lead guard that causes problems once he gets by his defender.
Abraham Rosario Abraham Rosario 6'8" | PF Evangel Christian | 2024 State NY , 6’8 PF PSA Cardinals 15U
Rosario was dominant on Championship Sunday as the PSA Cardinals rolled to the 15U platinum title. The 6’8 forward has a strong frame, which he uses to get position down low. Rosario attacks the basket with a purpose as he capped off the first half of the championship game with an emphatic two-handed flush. He is almost impossible to keep off the glass at both ends of the floor, ripping down basically every board in his area. Rosario has a bright future ahead of him as he will continue to grow throughout the course of the AAU season.
James Vallillo James Vallillo 6'2" | SF Holmdel | 2024 State NJ , 6’2 SG ShoreShots 15U
Vallillo had a strong showing on Sunday, despite giving up a lot of size on the interior. The 6’2 guard has a nice release on his jumper and shoots the ball with confidence from distance. Vallillo can also put the ball on the floor and made a couple of tough layups through contact. He got numerous deflections at the point of the press and fought for rebounds on both ends of the floor. Vallillo’s ability to affect the game in multiple ways is something that will help him out as his high school career progresses.
Jayden Pierre Jayden Pierre 6'2" | PG Long Island Lutheran | 2022 State #109 Nation NY , 6’2 PG Team Rio University 17U
Pierre was an impact performer all game as defenses struggled to contain him. The 6’2 guard has a tight handle and made several tough layups around the basket. Pierre did more than just attack the basket as he stroked the ball with confidence from deep and did not make many mistakes with the ball in his hands. He made plays on the defensive end as well as he got several steals and countless deflections. Pierre’s ability to affect the game at both ends of the floor makes him a point guard prospect to watch in the Northeast this AAU season.
