Daylen Green Daylen Green 6'2" | SG Sandusky | 2023 State OH , 6’2 SG Sandusky 2023 Ohio Buckets (Miller)
Green is a very high level defender as he gets a bunch of defensive stock plays (steals + blocks) whenever I watch him play. Green has long arms and is quick at the point of attack. Green is still developing as an offensive player, but takes smart shots and finishes around the rim. If Green can become more consistent on the offensive end, he could be a major riser next season.
Aj Hess, 6’7 C Mohawk 2023 Ohio Buckets (Miller)
A stretch 5, Hess made shots and protected the rim for the Buckets this weekend. Hess is very skinny and helps keep the floor spaced for his guards to attack the basket. I’d like to see Hess gain some strength before the high school season starts, but there’s an intriguing skill-set at the moment to work with.
Zion Crowe, 6’4 SF Springfield Shawnee 2023 Dayton Elite 16U
Crowe really popped with his outside shooting ability from the wing position. Crowe is the most complete offensive player on a Dayton Elite squad with some nice sleepers. I like his frame at 6’4 with long arms. Crowe produced in both games I caught of his team and has the potential to be a scholarship kid.
Anthony Ruffolo, 5’11 PG Kettering Alter 2023 Dayton Elite 16U
An old school point guard, Ruffolo runs the show for Dayton Elite 16U. Ruffolo is pretty limited athletically but has a high IQ and makes shots from the outside. Ruffolo has played in plenty of big games for Alter last season and produced, you could tell he wasn’t phased by bigger and more athletic defenders. Alter is poised to be one of the best Division II teams in the state next season and Ruffolo is one of the bigger pieces of their puzzle.
CJ Hornbeak CJ Hornbeak 6'2" | SG Toledo St. John's | 2023 State OH 6’2 SG Toledo St John’s 2023 Ohio Buckets (Turf)
Hornbeak looks awesome offensively next to elite shooters in Logan Beaston Logan Beaston 6'4" | SG Tiffin Columbian | 2023 State OH and Jake Morrison for the Ohio Buckets. Hornbeak is able to attack closeouts and use his athleticism to get to the rim. Hornbeak is developing as a shooter but knocked down a spot-up 3-point attempt in the one game I caught of him this weekend.
Justyn Toler, 6’1 SG Toledo St John’s 2023 Ohio Buckets (Turf)
Toler is a glue guy for the buckets, as he makes a big impact without scoring the basketball. Not the most talented offensive player, Toler typically scores off cuts and scrappy plays. Toler is a two sport stud at Toledo St John’s, shining as a defensive back on the gridiron. With Toler, Hornbeak and Conway, Toledo St John’s has a 2023 class that has the potential to be special.
