Rayvon Griffith Rayvon Griffith 6'6" | SF AZ Compass Prep | 2023 State #78 Nation AZ , 6’5 SF Taft 2023 Go Hard 17 U
Griffith played up with Go Hard this weekend, playing alongside Paul McMillan IV Paul McMillan IV 6'2" | PG Woodward | 2022 State #229 Nation OH , Kollin Tolbert Kollin Tolbert 6'1" | CG Fairfield | 2022 State OH , Aboubacar Cisse Aboubacar Cisse 6'5" | SF Western Hills | 2022 State OH among other Cincinnati city league studs. Griffith shot the ball at a high level from the outside, hitting shots off the catch from 25+ feet. Griffith also had some highlight reel dunks in transition, flashing his athleticism. Griffith is clearly the top prospect in Ohio’s 2023 class and is a treat to watch lace em up each time he steps on the floor.
Cole Rhett Cole Rhett 6'7" | C Bishop Watterson | 2023 State OH , 6’8 C Bishop Watterson 2023 Nova (Stavroff)
Rhett had a big high school season, but I wasn’t able to catch a Bishop Watterson contest all season. Seeing Rhett in an organized setting was much needed this weekend. Rhett moves well for a guy his size and is very tough to handle in the post. You always wonder how Rhett will defend in space with his weight, but he has time to lose some lbs. Rhett can space the floor with his outside shot and passes the ball well from the post.
Abubakarr Bangura, 6’2 SG Westerville Central 2023 Nova (Stavroff)
Bangura used his quickness and aggressiveness to score around the rim often this weekend. Didn’t get the chance to shine on a loaded Westerville Central team last season, but he looked capable of stepping into their starting line-up based on his play. Bangura needs to improve his handle to become a more complete offensive player, but I like his toughness and motor.
Kyler D’Augustino Kyler D’Augustino 6'1" | CG Albany Alexander | 2023 State OH 6’1 CG Alexander 2023 Mid Ohio Pumas Gold 16 U
D’Augustino scored the ball at a very high level this weekend for the Pumas. D’Augustino shoots a really pretty ball as a lefty. I like the pace he plays at and craftiness with pivots. After scoring around 25 PPG as a Sophomore, you are seeing what he’s capable of against a higher level of competition in the Summer.
Sam Whitmer, 6’3 SF Elder 2023 Shining Star Price 16 U
Whitmer stood out for Shining Star Price 16 U even after Carson Browne Carson Browne 6'8" | C Elder | 2023 State OH went out with an injury this weekend. Whitmer moves well off the ball and did a lot of press breaking for his team. Whitmer should step into a bigger role for Elder this season alongside seniors like Andrew Harp Andrew Harp 6'5" | SF Elder | 2022 State OH and Sean Keller Sean Keller 5'11" | PG Elder | 2022 State OH . I expect Whitmer to be even more impressive when playing next to better ball handlers than he has with Shining Star Price.
